This episode with @shannonkevans is just awesome. We talk about her book “Rewilding Motherhood” from @readbakerbooks. We talk motherhood, Catholicism, and femininity. He shares his journey of developing his son to be a man. We talk about how to think about masculinity and what that means for our boys. This is an amazing resource that I highly recommend to anyone raising sons.
Y’all, this episode with @giv.elmore is so powerful. Gaelin is a former foster youth that ended up being drafted intro he NFL only to realize that football was an idol in his life and retiring at 22. I cannot wait for y’all to hear from Dr. Cartagena today. There is so much going on right now about CRT and I find myself unable to wade through all the noise to find what’s true. Nathan is an incredible guide into this world. We talk about his family story and the dynamics at play. Nathan then talks about his road to becoming a scholar. Finally, we get into some of the discussion around CRT. We did not do a deep dive here but I have some really helpful resources in the show notes that will keep you busy for a while. I think understanding some of this stuff for ourselves is important. We all can’t be scholars but we can stop people from using disinformation for their own purposes. You are going to love this one! Link in bio.
I am so proud of this episode y’all. Leanne and Anneke talk about their book from @bakeracademic called “Women in the Mission of the Church”. It’s so frustrating to me that the story of the church is told through the lens of men. We are missing the whole story when we talk about the church like that. This book highlights the stories that we don’t know because we haven’t been taught them. We walk through a very brief history of women in the church and you will see some powerful themes come through. You are going to love this one! Link in bio.
This is such a great episode with @drcamden. We talk about her work journey, purity culture, and egalitarianism. Camden really digs down into purity culture and the basis of that movement. She also breaks down this idea of female submission and talks about what a marriage where both people lead can look like. We cover a lot in this episode. Link in bio.
This episode with @joycekdalrymple is just awesome. Joyce is a pastor @wellspringalliance which is just across the street from where my church meets. She also hosts a podcast called Adopting Hope from @ct_mag. We cover so much in this episode including adoption, career paths, and pastoring a multi cultural church. Link in bio.
I cannot wait for y’all to hear from Timothy McMahan King today! He tells his own story of medical trauma, addiction, and recovery. We talk about the opioid crisis in America today and Tim talks about how we can change our trajectory. This episode really does have it all. Check out his book from @heraldpress called “Addiction Nation” it is so good. Link in bio.
Pro tip: it never hurts to bring the intimidation factor into your hockey game.
This is such a powerful episode with @meghantschanz. We talk about her new book from @ivpress called “Women Rising” and really delve into her story. Meghan is really open and honest about her experiences and how she has seen the subjugation of women as an evil in the church. We also talk relationships and calling. So good. Link in bio.
I have been working through a book by @petescazzero on emotional intelligence a d just wondering why this is not more of a priority for Christians. @jjblandford and I sit down to discuss with emotional intelligence even is, how we can grow into it, and the repercussions in the church. We hope you get a lot out of this episode! We would love to continue the conversation so reach out and let us know your thoughts.

I’ve been a @prophiphop fan since I fist heard his album “Excellent” back in the day. Prop and many others have had an important role in my formation as a Christian, a father, and a man through their work, especially art. There is something powerful that happens when we use the gifts God gives along with our passions to speak to the world in prophetic ways. It changes others. That’s the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Our inability to learn from others and hear prophetic words comes from an unwillingness to listen to the Spirit in our lives. My guy @dwriggle surprised me with this amazing gift. Really cool to have someone who has had such a powerful role in my life say happy birthday. Our work doesn’t always feel like it matters, but the Holy Spirit working in this world is a guarantee that your work matters even if you can’t see it. Tell me someone who has formed you who has no clue about their impact in your life.
This amazing episode with @cookinwithkibby combines perfectly my passions for food and trauma informed parenting. Chef Kibby is forging a new path for parents and connecting with children. Connection is foundational for foster and adoptive kids, and cooking and eating is something we all do. Why not do both? Chef Kibby is an incredible guide for us. Link in bio.
I have known Jason for a long time and I am so excited for you to hear from him today. Math is a subject that we learn to love or hate from an early age. Even as I am teaching 3rd and 5th grade math, all of the memories of math are coming back. It can be hard to think about someone being called to math. Jason tells his story and talks about how he sees God in math. You are going to love this one! Link in bio.
The amazing A.J. Swoboda comes on the show to talk about his book “After Doubt” from @brazospress. We talk about deconstructing faith, the factors that lead there, and how we can not lose our faith in the process. A.J. has so much wisdom and talks his own story. So so good.
