What a weekend for the Blandford girls! On Saturday I got to watch JJ lead a training about soul care for our church volunteers. She killed it! The Spirit just moved and people are ready to talk Sabbath and what it means in our lives. Then today Blythe led our church in Communion!!! I cried. She did such an incredible job. I am so thankful for our church body and the work we are doing. I am so thankful for leadership that value women’s voices. If you are in DFW come check out !

It’s been 18 years with this lady. They just keep getting better. Hard to believe we have been together longer than not. I’m thankful for the people in our lives who have poured into us. We have learned so much from those that have gone before. Here’s to many more years and some late nights around The Magic Table. Happy Anniversary to .

Lots of emotions tonight. When we felt God was calling us back to Texas 18 months ago there was so much joy, and I knew that it would mean my career would move from vocational ministry to only the Lord knew. I loved being a pastor and I still miss it a lot. God had a new season for my work though. Preaching was always something that gave me so much life and I knew that part of me would have to take a back seat. I am so thankful for our community here in Keller and for an opportunity to preach. God has blessed The Well Church and we are pumped to be along for this ride. God sees you even when you don’t see it. He knows what you need even if it doesn’t seem like it right now. He is faithful.

So nice to have a personal chef making omelets in the morning. This one is his own recipe with cheese, strips or bacon, and hot sauce cooked in. Cook and egg for a child and feed him for maybe an hour. Teach a child to cook and egg and you get to eat omelets.

Well if you haven’t heard by now, JJ is starting a counseling practice. We are very excited and a little nervous. It is a big endeavor. We unpack what transitions are like and how JJ got to this point. We also talk about the importance of therapy more broadly and answer questions like “how do I find a good therapist?” There is a lot in this episode we hope you enjoy. Be sure to check out With Counseling at counselingwith.com.

Never would have known that we didn’t leave the house last week because of an ice storm. Cooking chorizo sliders and reading outside tonight. What a difference a day makes. I think that’ll preach.

If you have listened to most anything on this podcast you know the value that and I have for mental health. So it makes sense to live into that value. JJ is starting her own practice. It’s a huge endeavor but something we feel God has placed on both of our hearts. If you or someone you know resides in Texas and is looking for some support visit counselingwith.com for more info. Also major shoutout to for this amazing “With” font. I have been wanting to use on of his fonts in a project for a couple years now and this one is perfect. Go give the man a follow for some amazing design.

Well it has certainly been a while but you should have a new episode of Theology of Hustle in your feed. Today is a special episode because my good friend is on the show talking about all the things. In the last year we have both moved from vocational ministry into the corporate world. In the midst of living a lot of life together we both made a big shift at the same time and it has been good and difficult for both of us. We talk about the emotions of leaving places we love. We also keep it practical and talk about ways to make that move. This is a really great episode you are going to love. Link in bio.

Random story alert: many people don’t know that JJ and I have known each other since our freshman year of high school. I was the wild man and she was the goodie goodie. The one occasion we would hang out consistently was in JJs garage with 10-20 other people. JJs parents had a ping pong table in the garage and a fridge full of cokes and food. Even my wild crew of cool kids would go and spend hours not drinking and smoking and simply playing ping pong. So we have always wanted our kids to have a space to play and invite people in so we pulled the trigger. It takes up an entire room but worth it. If you need me you know where I will be.

The Blandford family is all in to the PRAY-orities series right now. Even Sonic is totally in. For real, taking time to pray with each other as the church is powerful. We are all up together as a family at 6a watching on FB live and it just sets the day off better. These are things we have neglected in our family life for too long and it’s been awesome to get into a rhythm of prayer. These resets are why I love the new year. What are you bringing into this new year?

Well the last time was so much fun we decided to record again. This time we revisit a topic from a few years ago, which is goal setting. We are not organized people at all. We like to go with the flow, but we have found that certain practices really ground us and help that freedom we love to be better. So we sit down every year and look back at the past year and look forward to the one coming. So much of this practice is about seeing the ways God has moved and looking forward in hope. We have some practical tools for you if it is a practice you want to try. Check out my bio link for a PDF to help this practice out. Let us know what you are looking towards in 2023.

One year ago today, our family packed up our cars and drove away from our home for almost 15 years, our people, and the only life our kids ever knew. Today holds a lot of emotions. Holding the sadness, joy, grief and hope all at the same time is tiring. We have made it together. We have processed A LOT. We hold all these emotions together. No matter what your year looked like we can have hope in the fact that God does good things. These times are the ones in which we grow the most. Also…December in Texas hits a little different than in Illinois 😂

I know New Year’s resolutions are controversial and I think they are very personality dependent. I am the sort of person that loves the new. I love a fresh start, a changing of the season. I’m not sure I do resolutions per se but I love to work on new habits and have markers that start them. So I picked up this amazing little book compiled by . I’m really looking forward to adding something new into my disciplines and this is a really helpful guide. I’d love to hear what new things you are adding or leaving out moving into 2023.

Well it has been a long time since we had a post on here. It has been the craziest year of our lives. We have moved across the country, changed schools, changed jobs, and even changed careers. We talk through the struggles and grace that we have seen this year. We hope this is an encouragement to you in whatever season in which you find yourself. https://curreyblandford.com/a-year-of-craziness/

I am sorry that I have been out of pocket for almost a month now. Lots of life is happening right now. So, we wanted to let everyone know that we are moving to Texas. There are a lot of important reasons for the move and a lot of tears over missing our incredible community here. It’s so bittersweet. I am still doing some interviews and we will try to get up a Magic Table detailing everything in the new year. Thanks everyone for following along. Here’s to 2022.

A Theology of Hustle

This is a podcast about work, ministry and the people who make an art out of bringing them together. Work is so fundamental to our lives and so often we remove this part of us from how we walk out the Kingdom of God. These are the stories of people who make the Kingdom of God permeate their vocation.
