Who We Are
We are on a mission to use independent cinema as a catalyst to inspire change and action in our audience. We do this by pairing the films with interactive information on their topics, inviting relevant non-profits and generally leaving our attendees with actionable information delivered in the most entertaining way!
OUR FOCUS | The films we showcase present us with an array of topics to be explored, and as we grow, we hope to highlight all of them. For now, though, we are focused in three areas: Keeping Celluloid in the Filmmaking Process, Representation in Diversity, and Environment.
CELLULOID | Nothing imparts the visual qualities of the cinematic experience quite like celluloid. Although we appreciate the values of digital technology and will continue to showcase in this medium, we are devoted to promoting the use of film and want to encourage and showcase the filmmakers who excel in this medium as much as possible. FREE SUBMISSION WAIVERS FOR MOVIES SHOT ON FILM. PLEASE EMAIL OUR DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMING AT [email protected].
DIVERSITY | Ever since the creation of Prindie, we have been interested in supporting women and minority groups through film, including the LGBTQ community. It’s a great way to highlight issues unique to these individuals, while also shining a spotlight on the artists both in front of and behind the camera. We are fortunate to be supported by Princeton University’s Women’s Center and include films in our festival that pass the Bechdel Test, created by Alison Bechdel as a way of gauging the representation of women in film.
