This year marks the 34th Annual Ostrich Festival in Chandler, AZ. Here's a picture from the 1993 broadcast, in which KZRX's G-STER did a live broadcast remote from the Ostrich Festival. Looks more like a KNIX event but we're told metal heads from around the valley attended the Arizona tradition.

Sad news today, as we learn of the death of Arizona radio legend JONATHAN L, who passed away at his home in Germany. Real name Jonathan Rosen, was one of the pioneers of Alternative rock radio, who launched KUKQ radio in 1989, after a successful run of his VIRGIN VINYL radio show. Rest in Peace....

Who remembers one of the biggest rock concert events in Arizona history? "ROCKFEST 93" KZRX presented this incredible event May 14th & 15th back in 1993. One day was dedicated to all metal bands, and the second day to emerging alternative rock groups. MADD MAXX HAMMER broadcasted live from the historic event. Compton Terrace had record attendance on the first day!

KZRX was a hard rock & heavy metal radio station which was broadcasting from Phoenix Arizona from 1991-1995, with 100,000 watts on 100.3 FM. KZRX was also heard on 100.7 FM in Tucson. KZRX broke many hard rock artists in the early 1990s, and featured some of the most outrageous & legendary on-air personalities such as Madd Maxx Hammer, The G-Ster, Jan Williams, Dangerous Dave, and Many More.
