5thCharacter The premise of the title 5thCharacter crystallizes many of the ideas we hold surrounding discourse on the body.

The point is that when we consider the cosmetic body we immediately think of fashion aesthetics, which is an extremely skewed perspective of course but at least it opens up more than the traditional anthropological approach to body adornment. Here the focus is on the arenas of cosmetic decoration, performed aesthetics, beauty culture, altered physiological appearances, and lastly the fashioned bod

y (which is the 5th character in this aesthetic journey). 5thCharacter is subsequently a unique biannual online publication that will appeal to creatives and academics alike.
