Actually, I can't play a guitar; I tuned it to grab power chords or open chords with a finger. I can play bass rather, more like Lemmy, so rather a deep rhythm guitar. So far I have made all the music that I could make alone or with a band; Hardcore Punk, Stoner, Café del Mar or 70's rock. For musi...

Every day, my Bandcamp algorithm sends me interesting new bands from all over the world that I probably won't see at festivals or concerts in the next 25 years. They're either from Canada, New Zealand, or Chile, or they're one-man projects, or they come from a country with a relatively small music s...

You don´t need Rammstein´s fireworks or Trent Reznor´s depression to create an intense and danceable music with dark and heavy vibes and rhythms. The French duo Joachim Blanchet on keys, programming and voice and my friend Job Trunel (Tagada Jones, Le Bal des Enragés) on drums manage to create a...

Thanks to an invitation from the non-profit association "La Boite en Métal," we spent two days in the beautiful town of Crest, located in the heart of the Dròme department, where the fifth edition of the "Bridge to Hell" festival took place. In 2024, this festival also served as a warm-up for Hell...

This song feels like a Scott Barrett or Richie MacCaw tackle. And as a rugby fan, I'm not exaggerating. A very powerful, forward-moving song, bellowed with all the facets of Matthew Hyde's voluminous voice, which feels like the All Blacks are celebrating a haka a meter in front of you. And us in Eur...

Howling Giant from Nashville, Tennessee, presents a somewhat different kind of music here. There are catchy vocal lines over pure heavy metal guitars, without fuzz and without them being tuned three to five semitones lower; there are dynamic tempo changes and various moods within one song. Wow, and....

I love Ann and Nancy Wilson since I first heard "Barracuda" as a teenager, and I love bands that come close to that band. Like Beast Eagle from Omaha, Nebraska. Stylistically, their back catalog and their latest release, "The Dead Follow," fits right into Heart's heyday. A bit of hard rock, a bit of...

As you can tell from the tags, the Lyon-based band is all about power, fun, and rock 'n' roll, combined with drinks, BBQs, and parties. The title track of the new album pushes relentlessly forward with a powerful production and a brilliant balance between grooving and rock, making you want to hear t...

First we have to say thank you SOL and Mona for the invitation. It was SOL´s Champions League Festival and of course it was sold out with, I guess, 2500 spectators. The two venues were big enough for a lot of Stoner- and Krautheads from all over Europe. The parking situation was a bit crucial, beca...

If you look at a map, you can see that Greece is closer to the Orient in terms of music and culture than to Europe. The Greek band "Naxatras" manages, like no other band, to effortlessly bridge the gap between western, progressive music of the 70s and oriental music, in this case Turkish music. "Num...

The story of being heavy stoned

“This flight tonight” from Nazareth was my first blast at the age of six in 1972, the next one came along with “Down, down” from Status Quo in 1975 and the biggest one was “Ace of Spades” in 1980 at the age of 14. These three pilars are my musical cornerstones, that lead me to create our homepage. The most important one is Motörhead in their classic line-up, because they´re the link between the 70´s sound and the actual Metal and Stoner Rock. The “Overkill” and the “Bomber” album are full of reminescences of Blues, Psychedelic, Stoner, Space and Punk. So if you´re openminded enough, listen to them and realize that Motörhead was more than Lemmy´s personality, it was Lemmy´s musical pilars. And that´s why I choosed our logo for our homepage. I get stoned at the Hellfest 2011, after having seen Karma to Burn, Eyehategood, My Sleeping Karma, Kyuss Live, Hawkwind, Church of Misery, Electric Wizzard. So that´s why this page´s called Heavystoned.
