Yin et al. found that Co-doped Ni-Mo-O porous nanorod (Co-NiMoO/NF) exhibits excellent performance for both HMFOR (E10/100 = 1.31/1.37 V) and HER (E−10/−100 = −35/−123 mV). It withstands 10 successive cycles at 1.45 V and maintains good activity for HMF conversion (~100%), FDCA selectivity (97.6%), and FE (94.1%).

Li et al. found that RuP nanoparticles anchored on N-doped graphene aerogels exhibit promising bifunctional activities, realizing working potentials of −19.6 mV for hydrogen
evolution reaction (HER) and −54 mV for HzOR at 10 mA cm−2,respectively. At 10 mA cm−2, the cell voltage of the two-electrode HzOR-assisted water splitting system is only 41 mV with high stabilities.
