I lost my niece on 7th Sep. due to sheer negligence of the local administration. A brick fell on her head from an under construction building on the main road at Godowlia, Varanasi while she was going for darshan at Kashi Vishwanath Temple along with her mom and dad. The brick fell from four storeys above with such brute force that she fell unconscious instantly and was bleeding excessively. Being a VIP area, there were cops present but they were of no help. With the help of few good local people she was taken to a hospital nearby but they refused treatment and was referred to BHU Trauma Centre. Being a busy area with huge traffic in the way, again local citizens came forward and made way for the car she was being carried in. The incident happened around 5:30 p.m and it took 15-20 minutes to reach the trauma centre. But it was too late as the doctors couldn't save her.
Had there been an ambulance she could have been saved.
Had there been safety protocols like, a net on the building, the brick wouldn't have fallen at all.
But the local nexus of builder and politician is so strong that they don't care for lives of common people.
A young life of 21 years is lost due to callous atitude of the local administration and we have nothing but deep grief to live with forever.
Just couldn't imagine something like this could happen which will leave so many lives devastated.
We hope that the guilty builder is punished along with the irresponsible authorities who didn't care for the safety measures.
