I don’t want to kill any enthusiasm for the new Pope so early in his Pontificate.
I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt & wait & see if he makes genuine change.
As a dear friend just reminded me it will take a “Millenial Pope” to have the courage to change canon law to place children’s safety ahead of the church’s power.
But, sadly, I’m not prepared to wait a generation.
I’ll keep advocating until I’m purple in the face.
I won’t rest until the Catholic Church makes child r**e a crime under canon law.
And one strike (zero tolerance) & they’re out.
The church cannot redeem its trust until this happens.
For now, here’s hoping Pope Leo XIV will do what’s right.
