Beyond honored to announce that our doc short, The River’s Edge, is a selection at the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival. This festival highlights and promotes the culture, contributions, and accomplishments of Asian and Asian-Pacific American communities through film.
The plight of the Karen refugees is called “a forgotten story.” The Karen people, from southeastern Myanmar, have been struggling against the brutal Burmese military regime for over seventy years in the world’s longest running civil conflict. This short documentary weaves together the beauty of the Karen people’s rich culture with their heart breaking story. The work aims to amplify the voices of a group of people who, though they feel like they have been abandoned by the world, continue to hope for a better future.
The River’s Edge will be screened Saturday, March 16th at the Short Films Showcase. We are so excited to travel back to our Denver roots and share this film that means so much to us- and on Colfax Ave, where we met and the origin of our name! A true full circle moment.
