Banana Tapes is an independent record label and physical media distributor based out of Nashville, Tennessee. While the primary focus of the label is centered around cassettes, we are also able to produce high quality CDs and Vinyls (45's and 7"). We attempt to function as a DIY "all in one" for artists; a place they can go to get cheap merch, good promotion, and local booking. Their awe-inspiring performances recall psychedelic stylings akin to The Residents! They have opened for notable acts such as Guerilla Toss and Fire-Toolz!

is Nashville's little gremlin! Their songs are juxtapositions of styles, settling mostly into the realms of art pop and industrial techno -- pretty with a bite! Their performances are summoning rituals to release their deity from each of us! They have opened for Dan Deacon and MAN ON MAN!

is making their Nashville debut! Their version of neo-psychedelia is abstract, beat-driven, and intrinsically Halloween-esque! Their floor-bound performances incorporate projections of glitched out, acid-trip interpretations of everyday dreamscapes!

will soothe your soul with his lofi bedroom pop! His songs are catchy and heartfelt, leaning into a more hypnagogic approach to hyperpop! His live visuals incorporate beautiful, dreamlike VHS processing!

Ironing is the music of Andrew Chadwick, a scene staple across Florida! He runs Action Research out of Gainesville and documents his state's music scene via Chadwick Archives (YouTube)!

📻 ’s music is somewhere between ambient and plunderphonics! His approach to sound collage, atop an ironing board, yields soundscapes that will awaken your imagination!

👁️‍🗨️ takes hypnagogic to another place, leaning into a style of v***r wave rarely heard since broken transmission!

🪷 (munnie waters) is bedroom synthwave that will warm your heart and give you a big ole hug! Their retro stylings call us back to the early days of space-age electronic, embracing a dreamy, minimal approach with a distant persona! They made the flyer!

🐩 .ray (Eyebrow Dog) may inspire you to dance or shake like a wet dog! Her beats are some sort of hyper drum n bass that's as moving as it is heady! Jump for treats, I say!

🔩 is the dark ambient / noise / electroacoustic project of from + collaborators! Blake Patterson from will join for this set as they reveal some of the process by which the albums "The Gnarling" & "Gnarled C*ck 2: Revenge" were created!

‘komfortzone’ is a grand journey from insecurity to confidence. Its experimental, art pop approach blends future garage, hyperdub, and indietronica to build the band's own, unmatched sonic world. On the intimate track's meaning, frontperson .ar reveals, "To me, ‘komfortzone’ represents confronting fear. The fear of being seen, of moving toward sharing what’s inside, meeting that where it is, seeing it, and saying, ok, this will be with me indefinitely; I’ve got to move past it."

in case u missed it, Flesh Eater collabed with a few legends on this one, with Fiona Apple & layering in atmospheric vocals & a slough of instruments in ’s studio, & mixing/mastering

SURPRISE RAVE BITCHES💋💋💋
When we heard was coming back to town we knew we couldn’t pass up the chance to get out some of this frustration we’ve had over recent events. Freak Daddy’s music speaks directly to the idea of q***r life being a form of opposition, & this idea has never been more prevalent
So thanks to the help of some incredible individuals, we’re excited to be throwing a FREE pop-up renegade rave//show tomorrow night (3/7) featuring an all-q***r lineup from some our current dancey faves. Music starts at 8 PM, with Freak Daddy doing a hybrid live/DJ set playing tracks from their latest album.
DM us or any of the artists for details; we hope to connect with & create a safe place for our fellow q***r community. For any of our cis fans, nows a great time to support!

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the anthological epic that is 's 27 hour long maximalist opus, "Omni." We're privileged to honor the legacy of Skin Tension's evolutionary tale with these limited edition cassette box sets commissioned by the duo.
This unholy set of three galvanized steel boxes contain an alternating pattern of 18 vintage/reclaimed C90 cassettes, providing the true Omni listening experience w/ 45 minute cohesive sides featuring portions of the collective work not currently available on digital platforms. The outside of the boxes are tattooed w/ a transparent triptych of the original album artwork by printed on photo grade sticker paper & stuck directly to the box. Upon opening, a full tracklist is visible on the inside of the lid in the same manner.
In addition to the tapes, each box contains a poster of the "Omni" artwork printed on wire-bound, heavyweight gloss photo paper, as well as a 3-panel foldout zine designed by our own .ar The zines provide behind-the-scenes photos from the Omni recording process, notes from the band, & blurbs from interviews about the record.
Every cassette is imprinted with alphabetized side indicators made using a unique stencil in silver reflective ink. The tapes also include track titles made from hand-painted metallic paper custom cut & placed intricately onto the cassettes using a heavy bonding material. To ensure the longevity of these homespun items, each tape is reinforced w/ a matte sealing agent, helping to further tie the cassettes to the iron-like theme of the package. Lastly, the cassettes are contained in repurposed cases for extra grit.
We can't thank Skin Tension enough for the continued opportunities to give physical form to their art & this special chance to create what is undoubtedly the largest/most intricate piece from Banana Tapes to date. These items have already sold out due to popular demand, but you can take solace in knowing that a handful of lucky ST fans will treasure this piece of history.
As they stared into the sun, they saw reflected in its umbra the universe gazing back.

We’ve been busting our cute little butts to make sure that has plenty of quality merch as they head down to International Noise Conference 2023 (big thankies for having them 😘😘😘).
First up, catch the band’s gore filled antics all on VHS with their, “Sermon Program 01 A Guide To Ritualistic Autocannibalism”. This video anthology of the group’s videos & live performances was dubbed in house on repurposed video cassettes w/ reused clamshells. All packaging is also designed by us, including cover art & custom tape labels.
We’ve also made two unique cassette versions of their “Alive At Fred Fest” performance from the virtual festival. Mastered for tape/digital by y’all’s truly, you can snag a copy either with custom, “Cook Out” themed stickers or spray painted, hand labeled tapes. We also utilized old cassette cases to add to the gritty aesthetic.
Along with some additional Cook Out inspired stickers, each tape is filled with recyclable, minimalistic inserts with the band’s info on weighted card stock.
The majority of the materials used were reused or repurposed to help save on costs for such a hefty order ♻️

Finally coming from that EST air. NYC was an absolute blast though!
We had some great conversations with a lot of great shop owners. We’re proud to say you can now find ’s, “Live at The Ballroom” tape at , , .records.nyc, & ! Grab one if you’re in the Brooklyn area.
You can also grab a copy tonight at the .flac event at . Blake will be opening the night for some other great DJs. Swan Meat unfortunately can’t make it, but we’ll still be having a great time slinging tapes.

Now that are we making somewhat of an attempt to be active on social media, it's time to make a post that has been long overdue & give our thanks to .deli for the brilliance that is, "Time-Lapse Nature"
For any of you have not heard the critically acclaimed album released under you are surely missing out. For all of those who have, you may have noticed a brief mentioning & even vocal cameo from us. It has been tough to put into words the gratitude that both of us (especially myself [Blake]) feel for this; not simply the sheer mentioning of us in such an incredible contribution to the world but how heavy the song & the album as a whole weighs on my heart. In the featured 5th track, "Sonrisa", the line, "Smile & wave, you'll grow further & further away" resonates throughout the chorus & echoes in my brain like some sort of wistful feedback as I hear the brief field recording of one of the magical nights we got to spend at the Earthship together alongside . Deli & Marcus have since left Nashville for a bigger, better, & brighter future for themselves & in turn the tether that kept us together has grown further. Many if not all of us will experience this in our lifetime as ties lengthen & our conversations grow sparser even in a time where we are all so connected yet so isolated. But, "Sonrisa" lets the listener take assurance that even if we grow further, we can take solace in our fond recollections that each & everyone of will have grown onward. "No need for reminders, it will all grow back once we're there" are the last words you hear before the repeating of the track's chorus line & title phrase lead into this field recording of ourselves. Though the truths in this song are universal, it is hard to separate myself from this song & our time with Deli. This preceding line however can help us all in remembering those times & the people whose distance shape it are never lost. (CONT. in comments)
