Ibom Air Addresses Recent Allegations and Provides Clarity.

Dear Valued Customer,

Ibom Air has become aware of recent allegations concerning our handling of flight check-ins and ticketing procedures and unfounded accusations of ticket racketeering at our Port Harcourt station. We categorically reject these baseless claims. Our staff operate with the highest level of integrity and are committed to serving our customers fairly and transparently. This commitment is at the core of our operations, and we will continue to ensure that our ticketing process remains transparent. It has become necessary to use this opportunity to educate our passengers and the public on some aviation rules.

Flight Closures: It is our policy, in keeping with international standards, that check-ins close 45 minutes before departure for domestic flights. This ensures timely departures and minimizes delays. We highly recommend that passengers arrive on time for their flights to make for a comfortable and stress-free travel experience.

Handling of Go-Show Passengers: We adhere to IATA’s guidelines in handling 'Go-show' passengers. These passengers arrive early without a pre-booked ticket and are duly informed if the flight is full.

It is strictly their informed decision to be waitlisted as “Go show” passengers, and they are accommodated only if seats are available after all booked, early, and on-time passengers have been served.

Corruption Allegations: Ibom Air operates under strict ethical standards, and our staff are prohibited from engaging in any form of racketeering or corruption. We ensure our ticketing process is transparent and secure, leaving no room for such practices. Any attempt to undermine these standards will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate action will be taken.

PRESS RELEASE

GOVERNOR ENO APPROVES PAYMENT OF MEDICAL RESIDENCY TRAINING FUND FOR RESIDENT DOCTORS IN AKWA IBOM CIVIL SERVICE

In his avowed commitment to prioritizing the welfare of workers in the State, Akwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno,
has approved the payment of a Medical Residency Training Fund of one million Naira each to Resident Doctors in the State’s Civil Service.

The Medical Residency Training Fund is a programme designed to provide financial support to cover various expenses associated with medical residency training including costs for the multi-stages of examinations, update course fees, research projects, personal equipment and accoutrements, etc.

This approval by the Governor for the payment of the medical residency fund to the medical doctors would facilitate the postgraduate training of doctors with specialist skills and qualifications while supporting their careers.

This would also help produce specialists who will bridge the existing manpower gap, especially at the Consultant cadre, across the secondary healthcare facilities and mitigate brain-drain in the state.

In line with the Arise Agenda’s emphasis on having a healthy and productive workforce to drive the many developmental initiatives of the Governor Umo Eno- led administration, the production of qualified specialists in the different fields of medicine remains a top priority of Government.

Also, as the state gets ready to start the Akwa Ibom State University Teaching Hospital, these specialists will provide the needed brain trust to the teaching hospital.

Quality healthcare service delivery especially at the primary level, is a key component of the Arise Agenda. The Governor, has followed through on this, with the construction of, and commissioning of model primary health care centres in some Local Government Areas including others that will soon be commissioned.

The inauguration of the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency Board with a clear mandate to start the journey towards ending out-of-pocket expenses for health care, is another bold move by the Governor in the fulfillment of his campaign promise.

Governor Eno, has also directed the recruitment of healthcare professionals to help drive his vision in healthcare delivery service.

Several free medical outreach programmes have also been conducted across the three senatorial districts in the state, where people with various medical issues or underlying medical conditions were attended to, and surgeries and other medical procedures performed free.

The Governor appreciates the robust collaboration that has existed between government and the leadership of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners ( NAGGMDP).

REFRAIN FROM ALWAYS ATTACKING GENUINE GOVT PROJECTS- GOV ENO’S CPS TELLS CRITICS

The Chief Press Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh has urged Akwa Ibom people to desist from always attacking the noble intentions of Government that end up doing the State no good.

He has emphasized that the 19-Storey Ibom Towers building is an expansion attempt by the State Government to increase the Internally Generated Revenue of the State, adding that the building will announce the presence of Akwa Ibom State in the bullish real estate market in Lagos State.

Mr Udoh stated this on Monday, during Matters Arising, a radio programme on Inspiration 105.9 FM, in Uyo Akwa Ibom State.

He maintained that over the years, the property was not adding any value to the State, neither was it generating any income since it was not being utilized properly.

He added that there is no better way to utilize the property than to turn it into a commercial investment that will earn income for the State.

"Real estate business in Lagos and Abuja are bullish. The rate of return on investment in Abuja and Lagos is tremendous.

"His Excellency the Governor said that these are properties that have been there and not utilized properly. What better way to utilize that property that is not earning 1 kobo to the State government than to now build a beautiful smart 19-storey building that will also announce the presence of Akwa Ibom State in the bullish real estate market in Lagos State. The property will generate revenue for the State," he hinted.

The CPS urged Akwa Ibom people to encourage the establishment of Government projects and not always talk down on them, saying that the government has the best interest of the people at heart.

He recalled that during the conception of Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, International Stadium and Ibom Air, a lot of people backlashed the government but today, those projects have succeeded in putting the State on the world map.

"I want us to drop the notion that we have, that any government that wants to do something must be castigated. They will attempt to rubbish the intent of the government. History is replayed with such situations.

"During former Governor, Senator Godswill Akpabio's government, when he started the stadium, the outcry was horrendous, today it has become the most beautiful stadium in Nigeria where all the football matches organized by the NFA take place.

"Also today, Ibom Air is the most desirable airline in the nation, celebrated all over Africa and expanding tremendously. It has attracted millions of people to the State," he said.
“From decay to rebirth, a once-forgotten government-owned property, plagued by neglect and disrepair, is now being revitalized as a thriving hub of innovation and progress, as the state unlocks its hidden potential and weaves a new tapestry of economic growth, community engagement, and urban renewal.

“Recall that the Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno before being sworn into office came prepared with his ARISE AGENDA BLUEPRINT (Agriculture, Rural Development , Infrastructure Maintenance, Security, Education) and so far all he has done is connecting the dots and ensuring that all these sectors are not left unattended to.”

The Chief Press Secretary emphasized that Akwa Ibom State is one State that has been so blessed with good leaders right from its inception in 37 years ago.

“It’s not wrong to say Akwa Ibom State was once a glorified village, looking at where we are today, having witnessed so many transformational and success stories compared to where we were many years back.”

Mr Udoh disclosed that it is okay for journalists and members of the public to seek information and ask questions about the activities and decisions of the state government but that it was also necessary, important and advisable to have a little sense of circumspection.

He urged all Akwaibomites to trust Pastor Umo Eno and his administration to deliver on his promises.

PRESS RELEASE

PROPOSED 18-STOREY APARTMENT( IBOM
TOWER), LAGOS: SEPARATING THE FACTS FROM FICTION

In the last couple of days, following a story by an online publication where the reporter had questioned the rationale of the proposed 18-floor apartment building (Ibom Towers) on Aboyade Cole Street, Lagos, by the Akwa Ibom State Government instead of channeling such funds to provide food for the people, there has been a feeding frenzy by certain elements within the media space.

While this press release is not intended to join issues with the reporter who wrote the story, we are, however, constrained to put the record straight since the issue has unfortunately been politicized and several unsanitized and sensational angles drawn - predicated mostly by a herd mentality rather than rational, informed, and reasoned analysis of the rationale of such an investment by the government.

His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, had, during the groundbreaking ceremony of a proposed Ewet Luxury Gardens - an upper middle class residential estate in Ewet Housing, Uyo, last Tuesday, July 16th, reemphasized his administration’s audacious plan to tap into the bullish Lagos and Abuja real estate markets, by converting hitherto state-owned moribund properties into commercial investments, to earn income for the State.

The Governor had, in his First Anniversary speech stated inter-alia that “we will undertake the construction of Ibom Towers, an 18-Storey commercial property on Aboyade Cole, Victoria Island, Lagos. This will serve as an income-earner for the state, in the nation’s commercial capital. We will also build a medium-density housing estate in Ewet Housing and sell the homes to high-income earners. A three-star hotel will also be built in Abuja where our current Liaison office is located.”

The reiteration of these great investment drives by the Governor, during the groundbreaking of the medium-density estate, in Ewet Housing touting his administration’s desire to play big in the Lagos and Abuja real estates respectively, should not therefore, be an issue where sensational narratives are being woven.

Here are the facts: Governor Umo Eno is a leader who thinks outside the box of conventional wisdom. He desires to increase the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR). He could do so by taxing the people, especially the elites who own homes in some of the choice locations in the state and the middle class and others, but he elected, in his usual people-centric ways to rather channel resources into other areas that will expand the streams of income available to the State.

The 18-storey proposed Ibom Towers will consist of thirty-one, one and two-bedroom flats, and business suites that would be sold to high-income earners and the proceeds sent to the state’s treasury.

Additionally, the administration will convert the current state Liaison office in Abuja Central Business District into a three-star hotel that will also, generate income to the state’s coffers.

The Governor, as a tested and successful businessman, should be celebrated for thinking ahead, rather than the current nattering by people who intentionally know the truth but rather elect to play to the gallery.

Governor Eno has been dubbed a “SAN-Senior Advocate of the Needy”. His story of rags to riches, of confronting debilitating adversities, overcoming them to become what he is today has been well chronicled. In his inaugural address, he told those who may be on the lower rungs of life, that he will be their champion and voice.

One year plus, since becoming the Governor, he has been the advocate for the downtrodden, the forgotten, the poor and the vulnerable. Today, every month, the elderly and the infirm receive 50 thousand naira monthly for their upkeep. Through the Bulk Purchase Agency and the free food voucher programme, over 100 thousand families have been touched. Also, AKWACARES, a programme that takes care of the neediest and those on the Social Register have impacted the lives of thousands of families in the State.

Today, over 20 billion Naira have been paid as gratuities for retirees in the state civil service, primary school teachers and retired local government workers. The Governor had augmented to the tune of five billion naira, the palliatives earlier rolled out by the Federal Government in the wake of the removal of the fuel subsidy.

Over 2 billion interest-free loans have been given to traders to expand their businesses and 500 thousand naira each given to 800 trainees of the Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme (EAP) scheme run by IBOM-LED. Free medical outreach programmes have been conducted across the state where surgeries and other medical needs were undertaken free of charge to the patients, most of them, the most vulnerable.

The Governor has undertaken the construction of Arise Humanitarian Homes - a 2-bedroom housing scheme built, furnished and donated to the most vulnerable in each of the 369 wards in the state. This gesture has been celebrated all over the nation.

Yesterday, the State Government acknowledged the receipt of 24 thousand bags of 25kg rice sent in by the Federal Government in their effort to cushion further the effect of the high cost of staple food items in the nation.

Governor Umo Eno, true to his humanitarian disposition, has doubled the donation by the Federal Government with 24 thousand additional bags bringing the total quantity to be distributed to 48 thousand. Each of the gazetted 2,272 villages will receive 20 bags each. This is quite a laudable effort by the Governor. Plans are also underway to buy staple food items and store them in two 40-foot containers, to be distributed later to voucher holders from August this year.

Finally, while the media is free to do its job as the interrogator of government’s activities, we hope some of their interrogations would be products of reason, rationality and deep intellectual capital put into analyzing government’s actions, rather than playing to the gallery and the unfortunate celebration of a herd mentality.

Governor Umo Eno came to serve, to uplift, to challenge and galvanize our people to dream more, become more and Arise further and shine. He remains irrevocably committed to that vision, and nothing will distract him.

The 18-storey proposed Ibom Towers and the three- star hotel in Abuja are great investments that would guarantee solid income to the state government.

Like Ibom Air, which was attacked and described as a “ white elephant” project by the same herd of “ nattering nabobs of negativism” apologies to the late United States one time Vice President, Spirow Agnew, the proposed Ibom Towers and the three- star hotel in Abuja, will stand out as enchanting symbols of the continuous Rise and ascendancy of the Akwa Ibom identity when completed. Governor Umo Eno should be celebrated rather than pilloried.

In shambles.

" This is my family land given to me by my father, I travelled in search of greener pastures but returned to meet the house in this state.

" I'm happy today that Governor Umo Eno's success has become my success. I pray that God will bless him and give him more wisdom to lead ," he added.

The commencement of the flag-off took the project team to other places such as Abak, Etim Ekpo, Ika, Ikono, Ikot Ekpene, Ukanafun, and Essien Udim.
