Good morning Wednesday warriors and welcome back to Stuck In The Vinyl Again. Today we are over the moon thrilled to wish Redford, Michigan native, guitarist, singer, songwriter, and political activist, Ted Nugent, ( Theodore Anthony Nugent) a very Happy 75th Birthday. Happy Birthday Uncle Ted ! He was born December 13, 1948 to parents Marion Dorothy (née Johnson) and Warren Henry Nugent and started his first band, The Amboy Dukes, in 1963, while still in high-school. After he dissolved the group, he embarked on a solo career that has yielded 16 studio albums, 8 live ones, 16 compilations, and 20 singles. Today we have him on his 4th record, Weekend Warriors. The LP was released November 1978 on the Epic label and produced by Lew Futterman, Cliff Davies and Tom Werman. It reached #44 in Australia, #24 on the Billboard 200, and #22 in Canada. It's sole single, "Need You Bad" peaked at #84 on the Hot 100 and #82 in Canada. The album marked the debut of new vocalist and guitarist Charlie Huhn, who replaced Derek St. Holmes. Huhn would record three studio records and one live one before he was replaced in 1995 by the man he replaced, Derek St. Holmes.
In addition to The Motor City Madman's storied solo career he was also a part of the short lived super group, the Damn Yankees, featuring singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw of Styx, singer/bassist Jack Blades of Night Ranger , and drummer Michael Cartellone (Lynyrd Skynyrd).
