I was born in 1985 and molded by the music of the late 1980s and early 1990s. While frequently attending the local rollerskating rink I quickly discovered I possessed a clear understanding in rhythm and dance. When the roller blades were off I was break dancing to the sounds of freestyle music and early trance. Though I enjoy almost all forms of music, at the age of 10 I discovered the Wu-Tang Cla
n and many other inspirational Hip-Hop icons that lead to my focus in this specific genre. Hip-Hop wasn't just a music but a culture that continues to influence my style of DJing and who I am as a person ("you are not doing hip-hop, you are hip-hop" -KRS-ONE). Fast forward a few years and there I am in College, like my fellow Hip-Hop loving peers we were working towards degrees for a use of an unknown purpose. One of my college roommates had a couple of turntables and mixer and taught me some basic techniques. I fell in love with the concept of "turntablism" immediately and with my next student financial aide check I purchased all my own equipment, probably the most intelligent thing I had ever done with my college money. I immediately started djing at a local bar and hosted an underground Hip-Hop night every week with my fellow DJ and mentor. Doing this every week for a year straight helped me to develop my skills quickly; not only was I spinning at a club but in front of all the local Hip-Hop artists that knew more about the genre than I did; expectations of me were held high. Over the years I continued to develop my skills and expanded my set lists into a versatile barrage of music consisting of Hip-Hop, Funk, Disco, 80s dance, 90s dance, Reggae, Latin, Electro, Top 40 and Top 40 Remixes. Music of today is influenced by the music of yesterday and I feel it's important to incorporate various genres and various decades into a smooth, sophisticated mix that is nostalgic, fresh, and pleasing to the ear. It is truly rewarding when somebody comes up to me and tells me that I have made their night with a specific song or a mash-up that took them by surprise. Whether it is your club filled with only two people or a thousand, I will rock your party! Whether it is your wedding, birthday party, corporate event, sweet 16, whatever it may by; I will shatter your world, build a dance floor where that world once was, and make you "party like it's 1999" -Prince
