The Nerdiest Prime crew is drinking Tranya this week as they review “Under The Cloak of War”, a M’Benga-centric episode, which explores the trauma of war and forgiveness (or lack thereof). We talk about the role of war stories in Star Trek, and the similarities between this episodes and “The Wounded”, “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country”. And the most important topic of all: the return of Clint Howard.

BEWARE of SPOILERS.

I’m excited to share this proof-of-concept trailer for Fantastic Tomorrow, a retrofuturistic adventure story that I’ve been developing. It features Lauren Dial and Kira Daube as the face and voice of Mira Koskov (aka Zero Thunder) who befriends and protects a nascent artificial intelligence.

I’ve started instagram and TikTok accounts for this independent film project, with photographs and videos of sights and sounds in Montreal and Los Angeles that inspire my writing process.

This video was made with the generous help of colleagues and friends, I’m grateful for the time they donated. I look forward to sharing more.

Narrator: Tracy Stevens
NSA Agent Logan: Christopher Little

My wife Lara and I recently made a trip to Las Vegas, where I produced a filming locations video for Diamonds are Forever.
Although the film was shot over fifty years ago, a surprising number of locations are very similar to how they appear in the movie, including the Slumber Mortuary, the Whyte House Casino, and the Techtotronics Missile Lab out in the desert.
Lara had a stopover in Amsterdam last month which allowed her to visit the European locations for Diamonds Are Forever, the Skinny Bridge, and Tiffany Case’s apartment. This was truly a globetrotting adventure!

I LOVE the “James Bond Theme”.
It made me want to see Bond, be Bond, and love Bond.

It was composed by MONTY NORMAN for “DOCTOR NO” (1962), the first 007 film adventure, and immediately became a source of controversy when composer John Barry claimed authorship.
John Barry had re-arranged the theme and subsequently went on to compose the music for eleven Bond films. Monty Norman fought in court several times over the years to prove his creation of the theme and is now recognized as the famous theme’s original composer.

Monty Norman was a singer for big bands in the fifties, and composed music for West End musicals in the sixties. He based the James Bond Theme on another song he had written: “Good Sign, Bad Sign” for the musical adaptation of A HOUSE FOR MR BISWAS.

Monty Norman passed away at the age of 94, less than a month ago (July 11, 2022).

Thank you, Monty.

I'm back from a three-month hiatus, and this week I'm working on multiple videos. First up, I just posted a new Every James Bond YouTube Channel video: Every Canadian Reference, which is close to my heart as I am Canadian, and so was Bond Producer Harry Saltzman. Click on the link to check it out.

We're also super busy putting the finishing touches on Star Trek reviews for the Nerdiest Prime YouTube Channel, we're covering the entire first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, as well as the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. New videos are dropping on Friday, so be sure to check those out if you LOVE Star Trek as much as we do! Nerdiest Prime also has a new Twitter account with some witty banter between Alan, Namir, and myself.

And there's a new Filming Location video in the works which I shot in Las Vegas last month: Diamonds Are Forever. It's coming this Friday on the main Protokino YouTube Channel. New updates on the channels are posted here every Monday, and new videos are posted on Fridays.

This week I had the great pleasure to interview LARRY NEMECEK the author of the nerdtastic and favorite Trekkie book, "The Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion"! I've owned this book since I was 17, and it was amazing to catch up with Larry and talk about his ground-level experiences with Star Trek, including meeting Gene Roddenberry, and his more recent ventures, "The Trek Files" and "Portal 47".

I recently had the pleasure to interview Hollywood stuntman Bobby Clark, known for playing THE GORN! Appearing in a single episode (Arena" in 1966), the character is iconic and known to STAR TREK fans the world over. Bobby went on to play characters in three more episodes: "Return of the Archons", "Mirror, Mirror" and "The Apple".
