Important Changes at Modeight Records — A New Chapter in Our Story
Dear friends and partners,
Since its foundation in 2016, Modeight Records has remained committed to the "vinyl-only" philosophy. We’ve always aimed to support vinyl culture by releasing music that resonates with collectors and underground minimal house enthusiasts. Vinyl has been, and continues to be, the cornerstone of our label, and each of you — whether you are an artist or a listener — has played a crucial part in this journey.
However, times have changed, and the vinyl market is facing significant challenges. Vinyl sales have been declining, and production costs are rising. This is a reality we can’t ignore if we want to keep releasing high-quality records. Our distributor, with whom we’ve released 19 records, has proposed a strategy that will help the label adapt to these changes and ensure we can continue producing vinyl.
We’ve made the decision to start releasing Modeight Records’ music not only on vinyl but also on digital platforms. This is not a departure from our principles, but rather a necessary step to preserve and grow the label. Digital releases will allow us to generate additional income, which will be reinvested into funding vinyl releases. This will enable us to keep releasing music on physical formats while maintaining their uniqueness and value for collectors.
We remain true to our roots: vinyl will continue to be a central element of our label. However, expanding to digital platforms will give you, our artists, the opportunity to reach a broader audience, and our listeners will gain access to even more great music. This decision opens up new horizons for all of us.
We are deeply grateful to each of you for supporting Modeight Records throughout these years. With your help, we will continue to move forward, maintaining our uniqueness and high standards. There is much to look forward to, and we are confident that together, we can navigate these market changes and come out stronger.
