It’s so unfortunate to see how our list shook up the city. Something that was supposed to be reflective and a beautiful moment for Seattle Hip Hop.

If you’ve been following our platform for the last 10 years, you already know, this isn’t a space to kiss the rings of “majors”.

We’re here to amplify underground artists who are working diligently to get to where very few Black Hip Hop Artists from Seattle have ever been.

Streams or hitting the blacktop, we MUST be honest that the industry doesn’t even look at us as a competitive market! Hence, why I created the Seattle Sound Music Awards in the first place.

Look, as much as I love being an innovator and disrupter, I’ve reached out to a few of the town OGs to chime in on the subject.
