I wrote this essay when the earthquakes happened in Haiti on January 12, 2010; I re-released it when Trump called Haiti and African nations "sh****le countries" in 2018. I'm releasing it today after Trump's claims about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. "I am Haitian: second generation: one hundred percent. My parents have inhabited this country for forty-five years, but they are Haitian to their core....

"The name of my blog is Writing My Mind. I developed my voice and grew into the writer and activist I am today because I had that outlet and exposure. I started out with silly relatable posts like "No Bras Allowed". In the end I wrote about antiracism, social justice, activism, LGBTQIA+ visibility and cultural criticism. I was in the Jewel. For those of you who don’t know, that’s a grocery store. I like to refer to it as “the Jewels”. Hencefoth, I shall. So, I was in “the Jewels” with my 13 year old Audra. It was time for their second vaccine. I received mine in April. On our way...

New blog post:
"What happened at the Capitol was an alarm that seemed to wake up many of the people who have fallen asleep since George Floyd was murdered this summer. I have 3 followers. Most of my videos get NO VIEWS. Impressive, ri--? Never mind."

New blog post: "Trump is an emotional abuser" We are victim to the abusive tactics he employs: belittling, dismissal, gaslighting, shaming, disrespect, minimization, flipping and dumping, goading then blaming, denial, trivializing, threats, control. As we proceed it behooves us to recognize that we are in relationship with an emotional abuser. The results are depression, anxiety, guilt, detachment, fear, confusion, shame, hopelessness, insomnia, chronic pain, difficulty concentrating. Yes we're in a pandemic. It's not the only reason we're feeling this way. Now we can look at how he employs abusive tactics to steal our narrative. We must reclaim it. By doing that, we can disrupt the hold he has on our collective spirit and health. We can change this horror story. (link to article in comments)
