Why is the winter solstice more important than the Chinese New Year?

Winter Solstice 2022 is here! But what exactly is the winter solstice?

In ancient China, it was said, "The Winter Solstice is more important than the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year)."

This year, the winter solstice falls on Thursday, December 22, 2022. During the winter solstice, the northern hemisphere is tilted furthest away from the sun, causing it to reach its lowest point visually in the sky. This marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. The winter solstice is one of the most important festivals in China and other East Asian countries.

I've written about this before, but it's worth mentioning again so that the younger generation understands our history and why things are the way they are today.

As early as the Zhou Dynasty (c. 11th century–256 BC), people worshipped the gods on the first day of the Winter Solstice, which was also the first day of the new year. During the Han Dynasty (206 BC–220 AD), the Winter Solstice was transformed into a winter festival. The Winter Solstice was a day for offering sacrifices to Heaven and ancestors in subsequent dynasties such as the Tang (618–907), Song (960–1279), and Qing (1644–1911).

Traditionally, people eat dumplings to welcome the winter solstice in the north of China, while in some southern cities, tangyuan (glutinous rice balls) are eaten to celebrate the occasion.

So, here’s wishing all of you a happy reunion and winter solstice!

The Annual Flying Stars are based on the Xuan Kong Flying Stars system. It's a formula used in Chinese Metaphysics to map out the Qi (Energy) according to the current astrological movement of the stars. The energy of each area will be affected by the star of the year in that direction when the stars shift (or fly) to different sections each year.

In 2023, the wealth star will be in the south sector of your home. So, it is a good idea for you to carry out investment planning and wealth-boosting activities in this area. You will be able to create better game-changing strategies to significantly increase your wealth.

Do you know the difference between a lunar calendar and a solar calendar? And what should you do with it?

The lunar calendar is based on the monthly cycles of the moon's phases. The first day of the first lunar month is significant because it falls on the first day of the Chinese New Year.

The solar calendar, on the other hand, is based on the position of the sun. The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is celebrated on February 4 each year.

Although the solar calendar is more widely used due to Western countries' influence, many cultures still continue to plan their holidays using traditional lunar calendars.

Feng shui is all about the flow of Qi (energy), and it is derived from natural forms rather than man-made objects. You don't need to erect a statue, frog, or water painting to attract more luck and wealth. By studying or working in the right sector, you can activate the good stars and benefit from the energy they bring in 2023.

Myth 1
The type of plant in your home can affect your wealth and luck

Plants are considered harmless in classical Feng Shui and have no effect on Qi flow or production. So, having money plants in your home will not bring you wealth, and placing a cactus in your house does not transmit negative energy to your home's environment and your life.

Myth 2
Lucky colours

Colours have very little to do with Feng Shui. It is just a personal preference. Basing your home's Feng Shui colours on elemental considerations is impractical because it would mean repainting and replacing all of your furniture every year because elemental energies change.

Myth 3
Dead Fish in an aquarium is an aversion to misfortune

The belief that when a fish dies, it removes the owner's bad luck is false. Animals or other living things are never sacrificed in Feng Shui. Instead, you could inspect your aquarium filters.

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned practitioner of Feng Shui, "Period 9" is a term you'll hear a lot these days as 2024 approaches. So, what exactly is it?

A "Period" lasts 20 years. There are 9 Periods in Feng Shui, for a total of 180 years (9 Periods x 20 years) before the cycles repeat.

Every 20 years, there is a shift in energy in all homes and buildings that affects those who live or work inside.

Some of you may be wondering why you should be concerned now when Period 9 does not begin until 2024.

The truth is, if we wait until 2024 to make a change, it will be way too late.

Period 9 opportunities are reserved for well-prepared individuals. If you'd like to be one of them, go here: www.joeyyap.com/fengshuiforbeginners or click the link in my bio.

Desa ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur recognised as the first Malaysian winner at the prestigious ULI Asia Pacific Award for Excellence

Masterplan township Desa ParkCity Kuala Lumpur, by Malaysia-based property developer, Perdana ParkCity Sdn. Bhd (the development arm of ParkCity Group), has been selected as one of the 13 regional winners of the coveted 2022 Urban Land Institute Asia Pacific Awards (ULI APAC Awards) for Excellence.

This milestone achievement marks Desa ParkCity as the first Malaysian entry to be shortlisted and awarded from the ULI APAC Awards for Excellence programme, widely recognised across Asia Pacific as one of the region’s most prestigious awards in the development community.

This year’s winners were selected from a competitive pool of 64 submissions by a professional jury of leading experts, where they were evaluated based on their superior development efforts in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. The winners from this year’s programme were announced at the 2022 Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence Virtual Ceremony organised on 21 June 2022.

Datuk Joseph Lau, Group CEO of ParkCity Group, celebrated this significant milestone, saying: “It is an honour and privilege for our entire organisation to have been the first Malaysian property development selected to win this award. This is a recognition of all the effort, aspiration and vision put in by everyone in our company, together with all the support received from everyone involved. The win is also a benchmark for ParkCity's innovative developments and its excellence in creating spaces for life, alongside various holistic aspects of sustainability, safety, health and wellbeing, and the environment.”

Known for its tranquil, green, and sustainable living environment, Desa ParkCity is ParkCity’s flagship masterplan township. ParkCity constantly strives to improve the quality of life of its residents through meaningful developments with aspects of liveability, connectivity, and safety, and the community is already benefiting from this ESG approach as the township is fully walkable, safe and sociable. It is now well-known as the most liveable community in Kuala Lumpur.
