Wike’s Confession and the Urgent Need for the Transfer of Dr. Anugbum Onuoha to Safeguard Electoral Integrity in Edo State

We write to express our utmost concern and alarm regarding the appointment of Dr. Anugbum Onuoha as Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo State, given his well-documented history as a staunch political loyalist of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, now serving as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Sir, just yesterday, Friday, September 13, the FCT Minister, while speaking in an interview with Channels Television, acknowledged that Onuoha is his first cousin and has been the REC in Edo state for over a year.

In Wike's words, "He (Onuoha) was posted to Edo more than one year ago… "For accusing my first cousin, they have made a mistake. You know why? I was thinking I am strong; you are meeting a rock (Onuoha)," said Wike.

Sir, Dr. Onuoha's compromised position is further underscored by his active participation in political rallies alongside Governor Wike and his dedication to serving the partisan interests of his political benefactor.

This blatant conflict of interest threatens to undermine the foundation of our democracy and imperil the trust of the people in the electoral process. Dr. Onuoha's appointment indicates the politicization of the electoral process, leading to a loss of faith in the democratic system.

The integrity of INEC is the bedrock of our democratic edifice. When compromised individuals preside over the electoral process, the consequences are catastrophic. A loss of trust in the democratic process will unleash chaos, and the rule of law will give way to anarchy.

“I felt like I was just working for money.”

In a recent interview with Hip TV, hosted by reality star Kim Oprah, Korede Bello, the guy behind 'Godwin,' shared why he left his record label. He said he started to feel more like a product making money than an artist. After joining the label in 2014 and leaving in 2021, he stressed the need for self-reflection instead of chasing hit songs.

“I reached a point where I needed to change, to look within and find my true worth, and reconnect with my purpose,” he explained. Korede warned that focusing too much on success can make artists forget what really matters, something many fall into.

"I was born to very pôor parents in Lagos. I grew up in a place called Olusosun, an area in Lagos state. And where I grew up life was so hard that if you were able to eat breakfast, you might not even eat lunch nor dinner. We were never able to have 3 square meals per day. And things got even wôrst when I lôst my Mum, I was about 9-years old then. And 3 months later after my Mum dîed, my father lôst his job which was our only means of livelihood. Then things became very hard for me and my siblings and then we started selling water in the streets of Lagos to make a living. Then I realized that selling water wasn't helping because we were just living From-Hand-To-Mouth. It was even tougher because back in Africa, nothing is promised. No one will ever sit you down where I come from and tell that you should believe in yourself and they believe in you but you have to be your own counsellor. My family never really supported me when I started football because they thought football was a hobby and not a job. When I started football, I gave it my all because I knew that football was the only hope for my family. I play so hard because football is what changed my family's story and gave us the good life we're living now. I am playing football for money and not trophies because my family needs money and trophies won't bring them money. When my brother was relocating abroad, he sold everything he had and left his car for me. He wanted to sell the car too but fortunately for me, he didn't get a buyer. That's how I came to inherit my brother's car.

I wanted to sell it and invest the money into our building but my husband had a different idea. He said, "Instead of selling it, why don't I use it for Uber so we use the income for the building instead."

The idea was laudable so I gave him the car. A year later, the car became his private car. He hasn't made a single sale though he registered with Uber.

The fact of the matter is, my husband is not in a position to use a private car. His finances don't support it but he's forcing himself to use the car.

When it breaks down, he'll take a loan to fix it. Sometimes buying fuel is so hard for him he has to use housekeeping money to buy fuel so the house will starve.

I put a ‘for sale’ sign on it but he would remove it. Because he was using the car, all other responsibilities were left to me. If I asked for money for anything, he’d told me, "I've used my last money to buy a wiper or taillight or the break failed so I had to repair it.”

I called my dad to come for the car and he did. My husband said I’d embarrassed him and exposed him to ridicule in front of the world. Because of that, he wasn’t talking to me.

He hates to take trotro now because he can't bring himself back to that level again. He gave me an ultimatum to bring the car. I didn't mind him. My marriage is suffering because of this. What should I do to restore calm?

Content Creators Only Used Alax, The Popular Fish Pie Seller For Content,They Didn't Help Him Like People Think

"There are rumors everywhere that someone gave me this and that. They're all lies, if i was given such amounts of money, I won't still be living in a wooden house" - Alax the popular fish pie seller tells Nons Miraj

Rumors fly everyday especially on Facebook that Davido and some other content creators gave "Fish pie" millions of Naira but he just debunked it.

Someone with his status shouldn't be found in a wooden house in the trench where area boys harass him everyday and ask him for money because they believed he have made a lot.

Thank God for Nons Miraj, she got him an apartment and moved him out of the wooden house where he pays 60k per year. Now he has access to electricity, portable water, kitchen and all. She also took him out for shopping where he got dresses, foodstuffs, television and other home appliances.
