As hardworking Georgia families fight through Bidenomics and prepare for Thanksgiving travel, I’ve once again extended the gas tax suspension to provide further relief.

Thank you to our partners in the General Assembly for supporting this measure.

**PRESS RELEASE**

On Thursday, November 2, 2023, at approximately 9:21 P.M., officers with the Cartersville Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance at 64 Ann Circle.

As soon as officers arrived at the residence, a male exited the front door and opened fire upon them both. The officers patrol vehicles were struck several times, but the officers were not hit. Officers returned fire striking the male several times and one other person inside the home.

Both subjects received immediate medical aid and were transported to Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center for their injuries. Cartersville Police requested an independent investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). Cartersville Police will be conducting a separate internal investigation into the incident.

The Bartow County School Police is once again asking for your help in funding the 2023 Shop with a Hero program. The Shop with a Hero program provides approximately 300 underprivileged elementary-age children the opportunity to go Christmas shopping with someone from law enforcement, EMS, fire department, military, and educators. Each recipient is required to spend two-thirds of the money on clothing and or needs and one-third on whatever they choose. Additionally, approximately 200 gift cards will be sent to middle and high school students. All children selected to participate in this event are Bartow County residents chosen by Bartow County and Cartersville city school personnel.

This annual event is put on by the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of other agencies. It is scheduled to take place this year on Saturday, December 18, 2023. The Bartow County School Police is asking for each school to assist by raising at least $100.00 per school.

Last year was again a huge success; the Bartow County School system alone raised more than $13,000.00, more than doubling the previous year. We presented the HERO CUP to the elementary, middle, and high schools that raised the most money. Winners from last year were Adairsville Elementary with $2,940.66, Woodland Middle with $1,100.00, and the Bartow College and Career Academy with $1,200.00. We will again recognize and pass on the HERO CUP to this year's winners. The deadline for donations will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

For some of these children, this is likely the only Christmas gift they will receive. So, thank you in advance for helping to make this Christmas a little extra special for some of our children.

Please contact the BCCCA at 770-606-5182 for more information! We THANK YOU in advance for your support!!!
