It is named "Stringer's Creek" in honour of Ned Stringer, one of the original prospectors of the area.
When signs of gold were found, Ned Stringer wasted no time. He dashed to secure his claim before anyone else could even blink.
Though Stringer's discovery brought him recognition and even a handsome reward of £100, fate had a different plan. Tuberculosis cast its shadow upon him, robbing him of the joy of his newfound wealth.
Now, although the gold rush has faded into history, Walhalla remains a haven of tranquillity. A place where weary souls can seek solace, surrounded by nature 🛌🏻🍃

There are three waterfalls there, all of them are seen from the track which leads to the Upper Nihotupu Reservoir.
An excellent picnic area can be found at the end of the track, near the Reservoir.
