I’m DJing this Friday 4:30-7pm at TD's CDs and LPs the record store inside Soma Coffee downtown, so come by get some coffee and enjoy the music. Thinking I’ll be mixing some older stuff I used to listen to way back, and maybe some ambient/downtempo, stuff I’d rarely play anywhere else.

All: DJ Angst is Turning 50 this Friday! To celebrate He’ll be Djing his B-day Bash along with TRØLL and Myself 10-3am at The Root Cellar Lounge! If you enjoy in Btown you can thank DJ Angst AKA Johan Bollen for that. Prior to Johan moving here and Djing the first of many shows at The Root Cellar back in 2011, the House Music/Rave scene in Btown had all but died with the emergence of Mainstream EDM. Johan along with friend/collaborator Luis Rocha (DJ E-Trash) started what would become their Riot Boutique series, and quickly gained a following amongst a younger crowd. Johan began DJing in his home country of Belgium in the late 80’s/early 90’s while attending college. Originally influenced by the EBM, New Beat, and Acid House coming out of Western Europe during that time, his style currently can best be described as Chicago House served w/ a side of Disco. Staying true to the roots of dance music and offering his mentorship, he inspired the emergence of a new generation of DJ’s in this town; In 2015 DJ Maddog, Myself, and DJ Troll got our starts and I believe much of it had to do with Johan.. Other DJs would soon follow, and suddenly it started to feel like we actually had a scene here. Being the busy family man/Informatics professor he is, I have not had much time to truly connect with him, but words cannot describe how thankful I am for him paving the way 🙏🏻 So come out and wish Johan Happy 50th Birthday!!
