Wankers united (W.U.) will close 2024 for Evel. In this month full of heavy beats and dark and melancholic melodies we put the icing on the cake with this deep and Groovy album.
If there is something that runs through Tom's (W.U.) veins it is Funk. Any enthusiast will be able to get lost and delight in the extensive repertoire that Tom has developed in recent years.
In Zootech W.U. abandons the classic Funk formula and enters the territories of minimalist and dark electronics. In this genre, which is usually ruled by bass, it is the glitch details and twisted passages that delight our restless minds. The repetitive rhythms induce us to dance or get carried away by the groove, and being such low frequencies, they leave a lot of room to play where you can appreciate the tails of the reverbs and delays that make a stellar set of details.
I think that a lot of contemporary electronic music is an exhaustive study of all the components of Funk. If you talk to any producer of House, Techno, D&B, breakcore, Hip hop (obviously), even the most experimental music, almost everyone will agree on the same thing. After all, it has to have that Funk component.
Here you have a wonderfully stylish and refined version of this style that we like so much.

As you well know, we are finishing the year 2024, for us it has been an excellent year, we have had the opportunity to release a few wonderful albums and have some artists who have only inspired us more and more to continue forward. The effort has been rewarded with all your support which has left us speechless, we have nothing but words of gratitude for everything that is revolving around EVEL.
That said, it is an immense pleasure to be able to share this HERZEL album which, as you will hear, contains some of the most inspiring music.
Alek's way of combining the most nostalgic elements with the deepest beats creates a set that is difficult to beat. With all the album listens throughout the production and the conversations I was able to have with Alek, I understood everything that was behind this music.
Alek is a great and renowned DJ. His productions have been edited by the wonderful label of John Talabot (Hivern Disc) and compiled by none other than Sven Väth. With this background behind you, you will see that the production is impregnated with something that invites you to dance but at the same time is very dark, nostalgic and in a certain way very rooted. Taking away the obviousness of a 4x4 rhythm, Alek develops an immaculate production that elevates (in my opinion) his way of making music to another level.
In short, HERZEL creates an album that is not complicated in form, although it is in concept, as many elements of different styles are mixed together, cooked with the greatest mastery. See²?
