It is with a heavy heart that I announce the upcoming closure of Resurgence Novels. I want to extend my sincerest gratitude for the support and enthusiasm you’ve shown. Your engagement has meant everything to me, and I am truly saddened to have to bring you this news.
Here are some key reasons for our closure:
Loss of Investment Support: Earlier this year, our main investor was unexpectedly closed down, leaving Resurgence without access to over £500000 of the funding we were owed. This loss has made it financially impossible to keep Resurgence running on a stable basis.
Health Concerns: For the past three years, I have dedicated over 80 hours per week to building Resurgence Novels. Unfortunately, my health has significantly declined, and I am currently dealing with a serious medical condition. My doctor has advised me to step back from all work to focus on recovery, making it impossible to continue managing the platform effectively alone.
Operational Challenges: Following the departure of two key team members, it was discovered that certain essential tasks had not been completed, which left us in breach of several contracts. I am unable to address these issues myself due to my health, and without the resources to rebuild a team, it’s not feasible to bring the company back into compliance.
Sustainability: Without the critical funding from our investor, Resurgence no longer has the revenue to grow or sustain itself. Although we hoped to find alternative funding, I am too ill to continue this avenue alone.
What This Means for You as a Reader:
Access to Your Library: You will still have access to any books in your library that you have unlocked. These will remain accessible for as long as the app remains online, which we estimate to be about one month from now. Unfortunately, once our storage capacity is fully depleted, we will have to take the app offline permanently.
Refund Policy: Due to limited resources, we are unable to provide refunds for any unused coins. However, you will retain access to all purchased and unlocked chapters for as long as the platform remains active.
I am deeply sorry to have to bring you this news, and I understand how disappointing it may be. Resurgence was my passion and my life for the past three years, and I poured everything I had into making it a space where diverse and underrepresented voices could shine, and where our authors could truly be proud of their work. Without the support of my investors and co-founders, however, I cannot continue on this journey.
Thank you once again for being a part of the Resurgence community. I am immensely grateful for every moment you’ve spent with us, and I hope that the stories we shared together will continue to inspire you.
