When you think of Skyla Spencer, you think of a talent that wears many different hats in life. We’re not talking about the over 100 hats she has to choose from, but all the hats she wears professionally. Skyla is a true performer at heart; singer, songwriter, published author, actress, dancer, choreographer, emcee, and more. She most recently added a new title to the many hats she collectively wea
rs. She traveled to the All World Beauties pageant for nationals in Orlando, FL.July 7-11, and brought home the crown and title as Ms. All World Beauties United States on July 9, 2016. “This all seems surreal” Skyla says. “It’s interesting where life takes you and how things you never thought you would be doing, happens. I always admired people that did pageants but never thought I would be doing one as an adult. I have learned so much about myself through this whole process. It is a rewarding and life changing experience.”
Skyla’s platform is “Together We Fly”, bringing awareness to Thyroid Disease. Skyla was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism over three years ago. This disease affects every cell in your body. “It was important for me to share my experiences battling this disease with others. It has changed my life. It is often misunderstood, and has a stigma associated with it. I want to educate others about the disease, the symptoms to recognize and help those who are struggling with it.” Skyla launched a support group in Nashville for those battling Thyroid Disease and continues to bring awareness both nationally and internationally. “I plan on raising money for Thyroid Disease Research and help organizations such as The American Thyroid Association. I plan on holding one or more benefit concerts and doing a thyroid awareness walk throughout my reign as Ms. All World Beauties United States 2016.”
Skyla also received other optional awards in the AWB national pageant, including first place for, Spoken Word Performance, Commercial Performance, Dramatic Presentation, Scrapbook Winner, 1st runner up for AWB portfolio, and one of the winners for talent. Skyla, a native from West Virginia, moved to Nashville over ten years ago to pursue a career in the music business. She is an accomplished performer and entertainer and has headlined and sang for our US troops overseas, as well as having songs on country radio and charting on country charts. She has also received awards and nominations for songs. Skyla’s radio release in 2009, titled “This Girl”, scored her first Breakthrough Artist of The Year nomination for New Music Weekly and she made her Music Row debut. This song is empowering and a message to all women to be fearless and push through the tough times. Available to purchase on I-tunes. Skyla is currently writing and working on new music for 2016. A new original song will be released later this year. Skyla holds a BA in Psychology and a BA in Dance from West Virginia University, and an AA in Dance from Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey, CA. Upon moving to Nashville, Skyla owned her own business a dance studio in Buckhannon, WV. This helped mold her into the business minded woman she is today helping her to excel in all areas she seeks. Skyla is a published author and is signed with DonnaInk Publications L.L.C. based out of North Carolina. Skyla’s first children’s book was released titled “Skyla’s Hat Adventures, The Magic of Discovery”. This is the first book in a series to come and is a story that teaches children that all things are possible. You can wear many hats in life and be successful at many different things. Skyla’s book was recently awarded Honorable Mention from the Purple Dragonfly Book Awards by Five Star Publications. She is presently working on her next book. Skyla is also producing, hosting and developing her own entertainment show to pitch to TV networks. She is multi-talented and shows no signs of slowing down. She is one of the hardest working women in the entertainment industry. Skyla has appeared on national TV networks including ABC, CMT, TLC and GAC. Appearing on the Ellen Degeneres show (Jeannie’s Extravaganza), The Little Couple, dancing and starring in music videos, film, commercials, dancing at NFL games and much more. Skyla has been featured in national and noteworthy magazines such as: Country Weekly, Power Source, Skope, Music Row magazine, New Music Weekly, CMA and many more. She was voted by Toast of Music City 2011, as one of the top three Best Local Celebrities in Nashville. Skyla has been entertaining audiences for years and has been making a mark in the Nashville community as an all around entertainer. She is no stranger to the stage, combining both her love of singing and dancing.
