The injunction, expected to begin early next year, will help streamline the halal certification application and renewal process.

Saudi Arabia has awarded halal certificates to more than 219 facilities.

The certificates were granted by the Halal Center of Health Sector Transformation Program, a key initiative under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, affiliated with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA).

It started courting the sector back in 1974 when the research centre for the Islamic Affairs division at the Prime Minister’s office began issuing halal certification letters for Sharia-compliant products.

On a global scale, Indonesia was ranked the seventh-largest buyer of halal products, trailing behind the United States, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, England, and Saudi Arabia, as reported in the 2023 Halal Industry Report from Alibaba.com.

The two-day 5th General Assembly of the Islamic Organization for Food security was held virtually on October 10-11, 2022 in Tunis, Republic of Tunisia, on the theme: “𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗜𝗖 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆“.
