Leadership reminds community members that our COVID-19 Pandemic Team has been preparing for this pandemic and we are implementing the safest action plan to help limit the spread of COVID-19. Members are asked to continue to practice what is working for us:
-Wear a face mask in public
-Social distance
-Clean commonly touched surfaces
-Frequently wash hands for 20 seconds
-Self-Isolate when symptomatic
-Avoid contact with sick individuals
-Anyone experiencing any cold symptoms for longer than 24 hours should get a COVID-19 test, this is to reduce the community transmission.

If you have travelled outside of Manitoba, experience fever, cough, shortness of breath or have symptoms of a respiratory illness (regardless of travel), even if mild, stay home and contact the PEGUIS COVID-19 HOTLINE at (204) 645-2869.

Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:
• Jackhead Res.
• Moose Creek Prov. Forest Pine Dock and Matheson Island
• Mun. of Bifrost-Riverton incl. Arborg Hnausa and Hecla
• Peguis Res. and Fisher River Res.
• R.M. of Fisher incl. Poplarfield
• R.M. of Grahamdale incl. Gypsumville Moosehorn and Camper
• R.M. of West Interlake incl. Eriksdale and Ashern
A period of very cold wind chills is expected.

Extremely cold wind chill values near minus 40 are expected.

A cold arctic ridge is bringing overnight lows of minus 25 to 30 and wind chill values near -40 to southern Manitoba tonight. Although wind chill values will moderate during the days, overnight values will remain extreme to the end of the week.
Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle such as extra blankets and jumper cables.

If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
