Vicki: I loved Lance’s episode because of his personal story and how he used his emotions to energize him into a new and amazing role. He is very down to earth and charming.

Morgan: Plastic pollution is a growing concern that often gets overlooked in most media. I appreciate the insights Alexis had to share in her episode—she makes me hopeful for the future.

Emily: The affordability of higher education has caused a major crisis for learners in America. I’m fascinated by the innovative Hope Forward program model and loved hearing Nicole speak about its impact on current and future students!

Let’s talk about our final feature of the year: Patagonia! Though Patagonia is a for-profit business, the Holdfast Collective, a nonprofit that uses every dollar received to fight the environmental crisis, now owns all nonvoting stock. As a result, all money made after reinvesting in the company each year will be distributed as a dividend to protect nature and biodiversity. In addition, Patagonia supports grassroots groups working to find solutions to the environmental crisis through their Patagonia Action Works program.

Happy from the TCIB crew! We've been grateful to speak with representatives from organizations that work with volunteers. Check out these past guests' episodes and the descriptions below to learn more!

Agape Therapeutic Riding Resources serves individuals and groups of all ages who have physical, emotional, cognitive, or social disabilities through various equine-assisted programs. Volunteers may work alongside horses, help with special events, or assist with property maintenance and administrative work.

The Arts Council of Indianapolis fosters meaningful engagement in the arts by nurturing a culture where artists and arts organizations thrive. They offer opportunities to volunteer with arts education events and projects.

Housed in the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI, Spirit & Place is a self-funded, radically unique platform based on an ethos of fairness, hospitality, and equity. Volunteers are needed for their annual festival each November and for programming throughout the year.
