A Brief History of the Jukebox
The Story goes... Ireland’s Biggest Jukebox was the “most listened to” music radio show in Ireland on a Sunday on RTE 2fm for many many years. The Jukebox’s first presenter was Simon Young (2 years) and then John Clarke took over the presenting duties... the rest was history.. until February 2014 when John decided to leave the show on his own terms as the 2fm we all grew up to know was pulled asunder.. After public outcry and media frenzy RTE made the decision to move Ireland’s Biggest Jukebox to DAB/online station RTE Gold, a station that John helped create as head of 2fm. In September 2015 John made the announcement that he was joining Rock Station Radio Nova to present his famous music show under a slightly different name called John Clarke’s Biggest Jukebox. It was decided to call it this after RTE had insisted they owned the rights to the original name. This was never confirmed by neither stations. On 10th March 2019 John announced that he was leaving Radio Nova. His final show aired 17th March 2019. We await the new home of the world famous Jukebox to be announced real soon..
