Underground party of the summer incoming!

We’re super excited to present the St. John’s debut of one of the most prolific DJs/producers coming out of NYC in the past decade, MoMA Ready.

MoMA Ready is at the forefront of a young Brooklyn scene that’s taking the dance music world by storm. Alongside friends and collaborators such as AceMo, Kush Jones, and DJ Swisha, he’s created a genre-agnostic movement that celebrates all facets of Black electronic music, from old-school Detroit techno to the early days of jungle, drum & bass and more modern strains of American dance music.

His HAUS Of ALTR label has become a hub for this community, releasing his own material as well as his critically acclaimed AceMoMA project with AceMo, and three massive compilations that define this new generation of producers.

On opening duties we have three local lynchpins of the scene, , Quin and Cleo Leigh fresh off her Eastern European tour.

Out today! Lucy Time” is a versatile 4-tracker by burgeoning Japanese producer House Violence. The title track Lucy Time features a dusty swing, hazy stabs and pads, and an infectious vocal groove, perfect for a bubbling dance floor as the night enters its throes. By special request, Westcoast Goddess comes through with a ‘Lost In The Forest’ flip of the title track, an acid drenched hardware jam including woody Roland percussion and a beautiful musical crescendo that teeters the line of cute, nostalgic, and introspective. Eusthenopteron kicks off the B-side with off-kilter vocal samples, wavy and dark synth work, and a jacking rhythm, a sure fire afterhours anthem. The EP ends with Tats, a soulful tool with subtle musical homages to city pop artist Tatsuro Yamash*ta.

YUNG DUMB Records returns to Argentina for YD019 with the 'Feel Alright' EP by Manuel Sahagun. The Buenos Aires house maestro offers up a 4-tracker, kicking off the EP with the title song which provides nothing short of an infectious swinging groove, with dusty vocals and percussion layered over dubby stabs. For the follow up, a classic techno-oriented homage by Montreal's Juno-nominated Fred Everything for remix duties. The B-Side delves into stranger territory with 'Mellow', a brooding, deep and melodic house cut. Lastly, the record closes out with 'No More', a haunting ambient tune with minimal percussion for the headphones and night drives alike. Drops August 18th on and digital. CUERPOS "En Dos Partes" EP Release

We are full steam ahead on local album releases this week!

CUERPOS, the duo of musicians Francis Dawson and Nadia Duman, will release their new EP En Dos Partes this weekend on May 12, 2023.

En Dos Partes translates to "in two places", which the musicians say highlight the creative blend of both of their music tastes into one super genre.

Follow Stef as she dives into the sound of CUERPOS, where their inspiration comes from, their impressive live act, and how genres like the grunge movement in the 90's showcase how music is meant to be collaborative and explorative.

Record collecting, sound culture, and the music business require study and time. Each piece of vinyl is a recorded bite of energy. Each album a book. I have studied from the best and when I was younger I earned my place amongst some of the top pioneers. In a very ruff environment. I used my knowledge to teach and even help pull some on board the ship along the way. Some deserving and some in return spit in my face. Either way it has taught me and taught me well… As I look around I wonder if in this new world that has arrived on the shoulders of others, do people eally value each other. Value each other enough to find not what separates us but what brings us together. I dedicate this post to my Big Bro, mentor, and hero Frankie Knuckles on the day he went to his ancestral home. His humility and study help pioneer our standard. He and Mr. Williams brought us together in this city, Now what have we done with it?
