STORYLINE
Our scene is set in the early 1980’s. The father (an OU alum and avid Sooners fan) is passing down his love for his alma mater to his son. The living room is decked out in Oklahoma swag, with everything from vintage OU flags to a Sooners jersey. The father and son are sitting on the couch together watching significant OU moments play out on television, including a historic football game. The son is curious and intrigued by what he’s seeing — he doesn’t want to look away. By the end of the scene, the son has fully embraced his father’s passion and love for OU.
BREAKDOWN OF ROLES
[FATHER] 40 to 45 years old, Mixed Ethnicity male. He has been an OU fan for decades. He hopes his son will share his passion and support of the Sooners. He has a 1980s man-cave decked out in OU swag, and he watches a classic OU football game with his son on his tube TV, cheering Barry Switzer and the team on to victory. A real father and son would be great, but not required. Ethnically ambiguous preferred.
[SON] 8 to 10 years old, Mixed Ethnicity male. At first, this boy is a little unsure about all this OU Sooner stuff his dad is into. But he is invited to sit in the den to watch a classic game, and Sooner Magic slowly takes over. The team, those helmets, the Sooner Schooner, the Ruf-Neks, and the 80,000 screaming fans at Owen Field push him over the edge. He's sold. An actual ethnically-ambiguous father-son is preferred but not required.
