Mumfidential

Mumfidential Our small but brilliant website will engage and inspire you through the highs and lows of pregnancy Mumfidential is a new website for mothers.

We’re still a baby (so please be kind and patient!) but we're growing up quickly into an irresistible online resource for mothers. We don’t seek to be all things to all mothers, rather everything to a few. We aim to engage, inspire and entertain you through the highs and dark lows of motherhood. We’d like to be what you read when your children are asleep and you’ve finally got some time to yoursel

f. Our contributors are top parenting experts (i.e. they're mothers and fathers like you) and it's their brilliant writing that makes the site so innovative.

Summer book recommendation 🌟 Games and Rituals by Katherine Heiny. Whatever you think about short story collections, I recommend giving this one a try. Each story is totally mesmerising; some funny, some terribly sad, all thought-provoking. I particularly loved the first one, set in a driving school of all places 💗

The boys did the this week … mud everywhere but great fun. It’s an assault course for all ages just off the M5 - 30 obstacles over 10 acres with a picnic area and wood fired pizzas 🍕 and coffees. We got the memo about bringing a spare change of clothes but no one told us that everyone in the Westcountry now owns a to warm up in afterwards. Thankfully there were hot showers so it didn’t matter 🐻 🐻 🐻 🐻 thanks for another great suggestion

Ever since finding out I was pregnant with Edgar, then, a few weeks later, the first lockdown descending, I’ve steered away from reading anything sad, seeking out stories that are 100 per cent uplifting.
After reading Sunset, however, I remember how life affirming and important it is to embrace darker subjects. Jessie Cave’s book, her first novel, is a poignant, funny and beautifully written account of grief and siblinghood and what it means to be ok. I loved it and mourned it deeply when I finished, immediately streaming her equally brilliant solo show, Sunrise, which she performed during lockdown (when she also wrote her novel and had her third baby).

When life gives you 🍋 you need a bib! Have you discovered these yet? They’re soft (100% food grade silicone) and close fitting around the neck, which is just what Edgar needs as he’s not the tidiest eater 😜

❤️ this from the amazing
“ As a child and family clinical psychologist, I always get asked if I have kids.

For years, my answer was ""no"" or ""not yet.""And even though I didn't have my own children yet, I spent most of my time carrying deeply for my nieces, nephews, children I nannied for, the foster children I was a CASA for, and those I saw in therapy. But the truth is that every time I answered this question, my heart sank just a bit. For the love I knew I had to give. For the joy I KNEW my family could experience. After all, it was the one thing I knew I wanted to be more than anything else in the world.

Now, thanks to science, my answer is: I have a sweet baby girl on the way!

The reality is that the journey to get here has felt long and arduous at times. And at every turn, I chose to find hope and surround myself with love and positivity. It was a time when I took all of the learning I had done and put it into practice in my own life. I got to experience first hand the power of psychological tools as a person not a psychologist! So, for those of you experiencing the emotional and sometimes gut-wrenching journey of creating your family, I see you. I've been there, and I'm here for you.”

I don’t know about you but I find my children can sometimes struggle to talk about big emotions. Clare Luther’s beautifully illustrated Little Paws Hotel children’s books 🐶 are designed to help children explore their thoughts and feelings and talk about how they are feeling. Read our interview with Clare (linkinbio) and see which book might suit your child. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ There’s Olive the miniature dachshund who is a bit of a worrier; Peggy is a lurcher who can be a little mean; Basil is a bereaved border collie… meet the whole pack

You’re not sure what day of the week it is but it doesn’t matter because all the days are the same. 💤 There is work and school and meals and laundry, always laundry. There is nothing to do at weekends, no holidays to look forward to, just going to the common for the 40,000th time.
How to escape the tedium of our lives being in constant pause???
According to author Ilona Bannister, it’s all about escaping to our old selves, our old lives, the ones we took for granted. I think we all need a wool armchair rocker like this. I’m going to be so sad when he grows out of it. As baby #4, Edgar has a bouncy chair in each room and this is definitely the one that sends him off to sleep the fastest!
