Oh, how fun it is to share client success stories! We recently redesigned a new website for Bourne's Energy which we hope you'll take a peek at. Well done Tulane University. Kudos on the creative marketing piece. It cut through the onslaught of tri-folds making their way to my son's desk. Talking food is smart, and free stuff is good. Never be bored....this marketing mom finds that to be a super interesting copy choice. Especially when it's placed on a cell phone-shaped mailer. Swap out that football field for a track and you would have had him. That distinction would have been an indication you were talking to him versus the masses. Cross Country and Track are the way to his shortlist. Let's see if your marketing segmentation goes any deeper. The most interesting piece I've seen in our mailbox yet though. 😉

I love exceeding expectations! For this project, I was asked to design and execute a survey to help my client get a better understanding of their customer's needs and buying intentions. Based on their previous results they were hoping for "a couple hundred" survey responses. So far 2,008 survey responses have been collected and 342 people have requested to be contacted about the products and services mentioned in the survey. They already have 8 sales calls set up and have just started the follow-up. It always pays to get to know your audience on a deeper level and a well-designed survey will be a gold mine of information!

I wouldn’t normally post for National Gingerbread House Day but this one warrants a shoutout. This gingerbread making kit came in the mail from a consulting client with an invite to join them online for a decorating party. It was such a cool idea and I think it was incredibly thoughtful to include me in their festivities. When you’re consulting for clients there’s often a drive to maximize time and rush a project to completion. This was an hour and a half on Friday spent just enjoying each other’s company and swapping holiday stories and traditions as we decorated these houses together. No shop talk, no watching the clock, no interruptions. Just quality time spent with some really great people.

Clearly I will not be giving up my consulting business to decorate gingerbread anytime soon with these rather rudimentary decorating skills! 😂 But how thankful am I to work with great clients who value my contributions and want to get to know me on a personal level. It’s the holiday season and I’m feeling the magic. 💫

The new settings make it so that "only a teen’s friends can view the posts they’re tagged in, their friends list, and the pages, people, and lists they follow. They also require users to review the posts they’re tagged in and allow only friends to comment on their public posts."

I'd suggest taking a break from Instagram today, friends. There is a bug that is causing accounts to be suspended - even when taking normal actions on the site (such as liking other posts). What will you do with the time you normally spend on the platform? 🤔

I had to convey this point to a client yesterday. Do the best you can. When you know better, do better. Your photos don't have to be perfect, and everyone makes grammar mistakes. Your messaging will get better as you find your voice. So keep going until you suddenly find yourself doing better! Keep marketing and just be organized and purposeful enough to learn and adapt as you go. You got this!

Let's kick off June with some sound advice. Stop using Meta Business Suite to schedule your social media posts. I'm hearing over and over (and over) again stories of people who scheduled content that isn't posting or worse yet, is posting to the wrong account! 🤯 And there's no rhyme or reason to it. It's really gotten ugly. Other posts are simply disappearing into the nether which is a real problem if you use social media to educate or sell. Not a good look for Meta, unfortunately. I haven't seen anything to indicate Meta is addressing this bug or has a timeframe for its update. I've been sitting on this post for a couple of weeks now, never one to jump on a bandwagon. But at this point, it simply can't be ignored.

If you rely on scheduling your content, you cannot depend upon Meta Business Suite at this time. So what should you use? Well, that's a personal preference. There are MANY options out there and if you have questions, simply send me a private message, I've tried a good chunk of them. I personally use Sprout Social. I am in fact a Sprout Social Agency Partner which does mean I can sell Sprout Social to anyone, or bring clients under my account. So yes, that recommendation does come with a bias but it's one I've spent years cultivating! No matter what you do, just be sure to be present on your socials and pay attention to your scheduler to be sure things are working properly. As always, I'm here to help.

A quick post to highlight an event I’m working on as it may be helpful to you. Every year I do a social media takeover for a group called . They host a 35 hour non-stop Ruck relay through the 15 towns that make up . I live post throughout the event on two Facebook accounts and one Instagram account. (Ruck4hit and Heroes In Transition on Facebook). They have 13 teams this year (up to 20 each year). Their social media is crucial to raise awareness and donations through the event. Managing the event is exhausting and chaotic but here are 4 things I’ve found to make it easier:

Facebook Messenger - I set up a Facebook messenger group for each team with its members in it. With 13 teams and 130 people sending me photos and videos for 35 hours straight, this is a lifesaver and the best option I’ve found from an efficiency and user adoption perspective.

iPhone - 90% of my work is done on my iPhone. It’s actually the quickest way to utilize the content,edit photos and create reels, stories etc.

Google Sheets - teams are posting their time in a google sheet whenever they go through an exchange. I can see real time where everyone is on the course.

Url redirect - they are using a race donation platform to collect donations but the urls are long and clunky. With a redirect I can send people to www.Ruck4hit.org which is short, descriptive and easy to recall, and it takes people to their donation platform. Easy peasy! 👏🏻

I’ll do a more in-depth post later (the event is running and photos are pouring in!) but want to point you to their channels to see it happening real time. We have reels, stories and grid posts going across the channels. Go check out and their two pages on Facebook. They are pretty amazing so it will be well worth your time. I'm currently posting from slopeside at Breckenridge (my old stomping grounds) where we're having a fun family vaca, but once we return to the cape we'll be raising a glass at our favorite Mexican restaurant on Cape Cod, Añejo Mexican Bistro Hyannis.

It's Send a Card to a Friend Day which makes me think of my Grama Allen who was known for sending handwritten cards for every occasion. She always had the most beautiful handwriting. It was my favorite thing as a child to get a letter from her while I was away at camp. She wouldn't just write a short letter, she'd go all-in with multiple pages in her swirly script. I, on the other hand, have awful handwriting. 🙄 I blame it on being a lefty! When was the last time you not only sent a card to a friend but wrote a handwritten note on it?!
