Going through all my film strips for a project and I got some much I have not posted. I want to keep sharing my work I subconsciously hide from y’all. Three years ago today, my mother took her last earthly breath. I’m thankful I got to be there with her til the end. I took this photo when I bought my first medium format film camera and she really didn’t want to take it but I’m glad she did. It’s still surreal at times not hearing her voice or just hugging her. I see her every day whether my Home Screen on my phone or a painting in my living room. She was one of the best creatives I’ve ever known cause she created me!

I’m happy to officially post about the launch of my first coffee table book called “Truth & Punk”. It has my some my favorite portraits and moments I’ve experienced at AFROPUNK Atlanta. A must-have for my followers and 200 pages dripping in blackness & gold! I’ve already sold 20 out of 100 in three days since the link has been up in my bio. I have an organization looking to do a bulk order within the week so they could go quicker before the end of month when full scale production starts. Here are some photos from the books to tease you! All books are hardcover, will be signed & numbered. Once they’re sold, I don’t plan on producing more.

“Gold Standard”

I was asked to submit a piece that spoke on my vision of a black god. Gold is a metal with attributes that include conduction of electricity, used in medicine, non-toxic, doesn’t fade over time, found in most electronics, extremely malleable & flexible, and most of all, has monetary value. I feel as people of color we are Gold in flesh. We were oppressed and still shine no matter what. We are innovative, smart, creative, have a hustle that is hard to match, we aged pretty damn well!
