FOR SALE: 1968 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback

A very original car with plenty of well-earned patina on the body work. Interior in great condition. All electrics working properly.

Recently overhauled brake system and wheels redone. There is an oil leak and the gear linkage has some play but otherwise a great weekend cruiser, and something different from the regular air-cooled crowd.

FOR SALE: 1964 Jaguar S-Type 3.8

The S-Type was a major redevelopment of the iconic Mark 2 Jaguar but used a mid-scale version of the firm's Mark X independent rear suspension to replace the Mark 2's live rear axle and featured longer rear bodywork, among other styling and interior changes.

Changes to the rear seat accommodation gave the impression of far greater room than in the rear of a Mark 2 and changes to the front of the cabin also gave the impression of greater luxury.

This Example
Exterior generally presents well. Minor rust spots by the wheel arches - cosmetic but not structural. Tyres are old and need replacing but loads of tread left on them. Chassis and floor in good condition. Glass presents with no cracks, however a few swirls in the front windscreen. Paint in decent condition, however not an original colour.

Interior all together, original and in great condition. Cracks in the steering wheel are the only real blemish.

Has an electric assisted choke to help initial start on cold mornings. Fires up extremely easily and idles without issue. Water temperature runs spot-on in traffic. Suspension bushes will need replacing at some point, however the car still rides superbly well. Note the radio is not an S-Type original, but an original from an E-Type and worth quite a lot of money on its own.

FOR SALE: 1959 Auto Union 1000S

This car was owned and rallied by the Muhl brothers of Rustenburg and won the South African Rally Championship title in 1961, 1962 and 1963.

It has since moved through a few hands and has been with the current owner for a dozen or so years. True to its rally pedigree, it is not a show car or trailer queen, so the body (although not rusty) has a few scrapes and paint issues. The trim is all still there and very presentable – even the original lockable fuel filler cap and pedestal-mounted reflectors are present. The 6-volt electrical system is still in place and operational but while the glass light lenses are in good condition, the plastic ones have a few age/sun-related cracks.

Papers in order (status reflects 'Used/gebruik') and licence up to date.

FOR SALE: 1966 Lola T70 Spyder Replica

The car started as an RCR kit in 2010. The chassis is a welded RCR aluminum monocoque with a small block Ford motor built by Keith Craft to run on pump gas (95 octane), but has always used race fuel as a precaution.

It was kitted out with twin Holleys carbs but this was swapped out to four Weber IDFs. There have been subsequent motor refreshes by Pete Frost.

Oil system is dry sump, mostly Canton while the transmission is a ZF by RBT. There was a transmission failure which necessitated a new casing and crown wheel and pinion from RBT.

Clutch is a 2 plate Tilton 7.25”.
Shocks are Penske 7600.
Distributor and ignition are MSD.

The body is from RCR, said to have been pulled from molds taken off an original T70. The livery matches the Can Am winning livery of John Surtees from 1966

Both ront and rear suspension was revisited by Bailey Cars, receiving tubular A-arms front and rear, and the front hubs were changed to Bailey Cars units - this done to rectify suspension by RCR that was too street biased.

The car has suffered in the past from overheating but a solution in the form of larger radiator, Davies Craig electric water pump and larger oil cooler has been fitted.

Wheels are Halibrand replicas, 2 sets, one with Goodyear Blue streaks with 1 race on, the other set with brand new Goodyear Blue Streaks.

The car has generally only been raced in the annual SA TT from 2011-2019, winning twice in the hands of Rui Campos.

FOR SALE: 1960 Porsche 356B 1600 Super Coupe
In September of 1959 Porsche revealed their fully updated 356 known as the 356B. This had a completely revised body that was more suitable for the American market. The 1600 Super was also known as the 1600 S and sat in the middle of the lineup, below the Super 90 and above the base 1600.

While the base 1600 had 60bhp, the 1600 Super with its Type 616/2 and 8.5:1 compression was more powerful, with 74bhp at 5000rpm and torque of 87ft lbs at 5000rpm. Performance for the 1600 S was also stronger than the base 1600, doing the zero to 60mph sprint in 15.5 seconds (a second faster) and top speed was equal, at 97mph.

This example was recently restored by a well-known Porsche mechanic and not only looks the part but also drives extremely well.

A pair of 1967 Volkswagen Beetle 1500. Can you list the differences between this year model and the rest of the Beetle gang? There are a whack of them.

This pair is up for sale at R125 000. But can be sold separately. Both are licensed and up to date. The green (non-runner) comes with the 1500cc lump it left the factory with white the blue (runner) has a later engine fitted.

NEW LISTING: Unrestored 1971 Volkswagen Beetle 1600L.

One of the best unrestored Beetles on the road today. Drives like a dream, original beadings, window trimmings and rubbers in outstanding condition. Interior beautiful and everything working as it should - from the interior light to the heater. Recently completed a hassle-free roadtrip from Johannesburg to Clarens and back.

Exceptionally good body and floor structure with no rust. Paint in brilliant condition with only the bonnet having possibly been touched up and a small chip under the centre beading. Wheels in top condition with tyres manufactured in 2019. Chrome is excellent all round. Original beadings and rubbers in top condition. Glass is very good but does have a tint film added more recently.

The interior is immaculate with the only ni**le being a hole in the handbrake cover and driver seat where the handbrake adjuster has pushed through. No cracks in dash.

Starts up on the first turn, idles smoothly and pulls effortlessly through the rev range. Original air filter and the choke is still operational as per factory. No exhaust leaks and the heater is in full working condition. Engine bay as it was.

No rattles, thumps or clunks. Brakes well and straight, and the steering is very direct with no play. Every electrical item is working as it should. There is no radio.
