Well, I finally got the old monkey off my back this morning. First saddle buck! This season has been a rough one for me. But the good lord knows what He's doing. We don't always see it at the moment. I missed another nine-pointer out of the same tree earlier in the season. Of all the struggles this season, the latest would be the flu. My wife tested positive the Thursday before Christmas. Then, all three of my boys got it one by one. Then I got it this week. I finally stopped running a fever on Thursday, so I headed to the woods on Friday. I was sitting in the tree this morning, throat still hurting and wishing I was in bed, and this ol’ 9-point stepped out. I was filming a flock of turkeys in the food plot, and he popped out behind them. I shot and dropped him. Then, the turkeys approached him to investigate or pay their respects. I haven't gotten this one on trail camera till this Tuesday. He is one of the thickest bucks I've ever killed. Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity and the harvest!

My dad has always tried to put me in the best spots while we have hunted together over the years. He has even passed up bucks he could have and should have killed, hoping they would walk by me. I’ve always thought I knew why he did these things. When my son Reese dropped this buck in his tracks this morning, I fully understood why. Words can't describe how proud I am of this boy and the buck. He was one happy hunter! It’s the first deer that we've harvested off our own land! Congratulations again, son! I pray for many more in your future. And yes, I got it all on video!

I always get asked how I can carry all the weight of my camera equipment to the woods with me. Well, I've gotten lots of practice from carrying three boys like this!🤣🤣🤣

God sure knew what he was doing when he created this beautiful world. We may not have got a buck on this hunt but the trip and memories were worth it.

El Grande hit the dirt yesterday afternoon! He came in walking along the creek to me. My old 30-06 took him on out! My biggest hog to date, 213 lbs. My video of the hunt will be on Youtube sooner or later.😂

Finally back in the woods and in the saddle! Haven’t seen anything yet but just happy to be back! Going to have to find another tree to climb. Pines have grown so much I can’t see my food plot or the feeder. Praying every one has a good safe season!🦌🎥

My son, Reese, got his first buck this morning! We saw five does yesterday afternoon. We sat till we couldn’t see out the scope and five minutes after we left the 8 point we were after came out. This spike came out this morning and at first Reese said he wasn’t going to shoot him. Then he kept walking closer to our stand and that old trigger finger got the best of him. Super proud dad, mom, and little brothers!

Well I took my 2 year old, Daniel, hunting for the first time today. There was no chance of being quite with him so I didn’t even try!🤣 No deer were seen on this trip, he had a blast though! Glad he enjoys it like I do! Pregnant mama even tagged along too.

Filled my first tag of the season this morning. A clay county Georgia 7 point with a 18-1/2” inside spread! Dropped him in his tracks!! Thank you again Lord! God is good! And yes, I got it on video! 🙏🏼
