Violent Soho’s album ‘WACO’ turned 8 yesterday. Was going through some old Dropbox folders recently and stumbled across this letter that we sent out to Australian media with advance copies of the record for review.

This was the follow up to ‘Hungry Ghost’ and the band would have been forgiven for slowing down or playing it safe… but instead they swung hard and knocked it right out of Suncorp stadium.

WACO came in at #1 on the ARIA charts, won ‘best rock album’ and ‘best group’ at the ARIA awards, notched 6 songs in the hottest 100 and was voted the best album of 2016 by triple j listeners.

Normally as we get towards the back end of the year, everyone at the label is looking towards the new year and what releases we have coming up…. so I guess it’s a bit ironic that today we’re celebrating the insane news that Violent Soho’s iconic album ‘Hungry Ghost’, a record initially released over ten years ago, has just placed at #2 on the ARIA album charts (and is the #1 Australian album). It’s wild to think that a decade on, Hungry Ghost has just reached it’s highest ever ARIA chart position.

I always wanted to work in music to try and be part of things that will be remembered… and I’m grateful to Violent Soho for allowing me to do so across the last 11 years of working together.

Congratulations Violent Soho and thank you to everyone who supported this release.
