CHAPTER 29 – FLOOD

Outside of the funeral, the rain was pouring down heavier than ever. Booming thunder absolutely shook the atmosphere on the evening of September 16th. Zylo bolted through the high-water puddles to his camper van.

Finally, inside the van, Zylo turned up the heat to dry off. Natural sounds of the rain felt so harmonious to his ears. Reflecting on his times with Luna, he was simply thankful for it all. Beyond good and evil, experiencing love outweighed the results.

CHAPTER 28 – THE FUNERAL

On September 16th, thoughts raced through his head—what was to become of him on this day? Rushing to change into his three-piece suit, the daydreamer had twenty-seven minutes to get to Luna’s service.

Slamming the door to his apartment, Zylo quickly hurried to his camper van. Pushing the button to start, the daydreamer put the gear into drive and stepped on the gas pedal. Thoughts scattered, and memories shattered. Zylo began to reflect on all his times with Luna.

Questioning the amount of time that he had spent in Serenity, Zylo became astonished. Disoriented thoughts began to cloud his mind. Reflecting to his last time inside reality, the daydreamer started to remember where he was. Before Eve summoned him to Serenity with her smart speaker, the psych patient had been painting in his home. Unfortunately, Zylo couldn’t wake up his physical body inside of the apartment.

CHAPTER 26 MIRROR CELL

💖 Blurb 💖

Refueling her tank with Dream Island Tea, Eve was feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. The lady android said, “Yum… Dream Island Tea is all I need to survive… Literally… it’s so perfect. Oh, let me put some jams on to lighten the atmosphere.” Just like that, Eve began playing songs from Kid Cudi on her smart speaker.

Music playing in the background temporarily cured the sad seriousness in the cabin. Shadow looked lost and traumatized; it was easily recognizable by his friends. However, they all wanted their canine friend to be okay at his own pace. They were all careful not to overwhelm him. Captaining the boat seemed to give Shadow a healthy distraction while keeping his depressed mind a little grounded.

CHAPTER 25 – REUNION

The slithery serpent continued to restrict Jasper’s neck and devilish puppets that resembled humans surrounded Eve, attempting to fry her smart speaker. Jolts of rage and anger began surging through Zylo’s veins in reactivity to his captured friends. Transitioning from pure white to pure red, Zylo’s eyes reflected his madness.

Laughing mockingly at the red-eyed Zylo, Mr. Puppeteer said, “Rage is what allows us to become one with our animal ancestors. Better for one to live in rage than for one to live in fear. Tell me, Zylo, when you ripped that serpent in half, how did it make you feel?”

When Layla translated the glowing hieroglyphs, Zylo immediately tied them to his favorite songs (in reality). These songs were special to him because each reminded him of his grandmother, his parents, and Luna. Wanting to hear each song, Zylo looked at his lady android friend and said, “Eve, can you play ‘Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd’, ‘Yesterday’ by The Beatles, and ‘September 16th’ by Kid Cudi?”

CHAPTER 21 – FREE FALLING

Speaking with a foreign accent, the psychiatrist welcomed Zylo into his fancy office. Orby followed Zylo cautiously in the new surroundings. Dressed in a sharp, elegant suit, the doctor certainly appeared to have all the credentials of being a successful shrink. The beautiful modern office had a built-in library. High rising windows gave an amazing view of the city.

CHAPTER 20 – LOOP

Awakening to the sound of rain and a feeling of sharp pain in his neck, Zylo realized that he was talking out loud, like sleep talking. Cold chills rushed through his veins as he recognized a conversation. He heard Luna say, “You’re my therapy, Loquito.”

Luna was Zylo’s therapy too… and she left his reality. Adrenaline along with shock rushed through Zylo’s body as he anxiously tried to open his eyes. But for some reason, they wouldn’t. Feeling like they were superglued shut, the daydreamer guessed his eyelids simply were stuck. Drowning in panic led to his accelerated heartbeat. Although his vision was unattainable, Zylo realized that he was sensing his soul energy inside.

Orby stayed by Zylo’s side during the tough time, however, Zylo was out of it and could not be helped. Later that night, dark thoughts continuously consumed him. The unbearable pain inside caused him to lose himself in a moment. He no longer felt in control. With bloodshot eyes, he walked to his closet like a zombie. Inside of the closet was a persuasive belt, that hung down from the closet rod like a sinister serpent.

CHAPTER 12 – DIA DE MU***OS

Time was moving strangely for Zylo, and he couldn’t recall ever even going to Luna’s apartment. After receiving the address, Zylo glanced at the directions of how to get to her place. Nothing seemed to ring a bell… It was like someone else was in control of his body when he was away. He wondered who could be creating experiences for him in reality while he was on Serenity.

CHAPTER 11 – SIMULATOR

After reading Mr. Puppeteer’s note on the front door, Zylo grabbed it and ran around the island to see where everybody was. All the island residents seemed to be a little off, like something was wrong with them mentally. Orby guided Zylo to the Memory Pyramid where he found Eve, Layla, and Jasper. Zylo looked to his group of friends and said, “Where is Shadow? Mr. Puppeteer threatened me to give him up, but I didn’t. He left this note on my front door.”

Zylo and Luna conversed for hours… not just about the game, but deeply about life as well. Luna opened herself up to Zylo, and he, in his own way, tried his best to show her a little more than a shell of himself as well. There was something very unique about the way they were able to have this acceptance of one another.

CHAPTER 9 – NEW FRONTIERS

Zylo set up facial recognition on the virtual reality goggles and his facial characteristics were instantly imported into to create a New Frontiers avatar. The New Frontiers avatar looked nearly identical to him. Holding a controller in each hand, Zylo moved his arms in a circular motion. His avatar in the virtual world repeated the same motion perfectly.
