From the best story tellers of Phalanx Press comes a frightening tale of Armageddon. It spread fast- no time to understand it- let alone learn how to fight it. Once it reached you, it was too late. New from Phalanx Press author, Brian Parker! This is up for preorder now, and releases on September 13th (link in the comments).

The 2nd Galactic Expeditionary Force is a mercenary corporation, fighting for whoever is willing to pay. They recruit from the galaxy’s destitute, its criminals, and loners. All are offered a new life as a G.E.F. trooper, battling their way from one desolate planet to the next.

Wrongfully accused of committing genocide against an alien species during a First Contact encounter, Fleet Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant Echo Griffith was out of options. His trial was a sham, a theater for the masses. With his back against the airlock, he reluctantly accepts the offer of service with the G.E.F. in exchange for his life.

Almost everyone’s story was the same. Most had nowhere else to turn when the G.E.F. came calling. Except for the Revauri, one of the G.E.F.’s member species; the hulking, warlike beasts enjoyed fighting. They considered it an honor to die in combat, something service with the G.E.F. gave them plenty of opportunity to do.

But, as Griff will soon discover, not everything with the G.E.F. is as it seems. Will he be able to withstand the coming storm?

Another awesome review for the Five Roads series and Brian Parker, Author

These books are not stand alone. They build off events in previous books in the Five Roads to Texas series. This review will contain spoilers to earlier books.

Another great addition to the series. Jake, Grady and team are in New York to connect with the scientists to see if Grady holds the key to a cure or vaccine. Navigating New York turns out to be more hostile then they imagined.

Simultaneously Sydney, Vern, Mark and the rest of that found family have lost the safety of the farm and are now working to create a new haven. Plus, they’re determined to do their part in eliminating enemies of any form.

The infected pose less of a threat than humans that continue to turn on each other in new and surprising ways. Lots of suspense and action in this book, but I also love the strong friendships forged.

Like the others, this is a complete and enjoyable book – but the series has more to come. I’m all caught up and looking forward to what comes next.

Narration:
Andrew B Wehrlen does a great job again. So happy to have him as the voice of this series.

It’s Brian Parker, Author’s turn again for a sweet review! Thanks, Rellim Reads!!

These are part of a series and while individual characters’ story arcs diverge after the 1st book, Five Roads to Texas – they also start to come back together in some ways. Definitely best to listen to them in order (and all of them!). Also, this review may contain spoilers to previous books.

This picks up a few months after the end of After the Roads – about a year after the outbreak began. Sidney, Jake, Carmen and the kids have found a safe haven at Vern’s farm. Unfortunately, Jake’s status as a deserter and an escaping Iranian team threaten to disrupt the tenuous peace. Well, as peaceful as you can be when there’s still infected finding their way to your farm.

Again, some folks are lost (though I’m probably not as sad about them as I should be) and new people join the group. It’s also apparent that staying is no longer an option. I liked the dynamic the new characters brought – especially Grady and Mark.

Like the other books in the series, answers about how and why this started only bring more questions. It might also be they’ve stumbled across a possible cure.

Lots of great action, political intrigue, and some very emotional scenes.

Narration:
I love that Andrew B Wehrlen continues to narrate the series – but it leaves me with nothing original to say about him. He’s a great fit and these are easy to binge.

Another great review for , this time for Rich Baker’s Showdown At Chimney Rock!! As always, Andrew Wehrlen SAG AFTRA Voice Actor gets his props as well!

These are part of a series and while individual characters’ story arcs diverge after the 1st book, Five Roads to Texas – they also start to come back together in some ways. Definitely best to listen to them in order (and all of them!). Also, this review may contain spoilers to previous books.

I’m really into this series. It continues to be a great mix of emotions, action, and thriller. The last we heard about Sarah & Charlie Washburn, they were escaping the collapsing Beaumont Medical Center with a few others. Little do they know that Leonard’s decision to grab a souvenir is going to lead to the fight of their lives.

A lot less Zombie fighting and more Good v Evil. No complaints. I liked all the perspectives in this one – especially the Iranian soldiers. It adds so much depth to the story and provides a lot of insight into many “combat” scenes.

As always, I’m crushed by those that are lost. There are no “red shirts” in these stories. Never know who is going to survive.

I’m looking forward to catching up with Sydney in book 6, The Road to Hell.

Narration:
Andrew B Wehrlen continues to do a great job with the narration. Lots of voices, accents, emotions to work with. Consistent and smooth transition between characters. He makes these so easy to binge.

Rellim Reads is burning through the series on Audible! Thank you for another great review, this time for AJ Powers’ !

Note: This is part of a series. While these are completely new characters and this runs somewhat concurrently to others in the series – I’d definitely recommend at least reading book 1, Five Roads to Texas to understand the premise.

Oh my gosh! I think this is my favorite of the series so far. Which is interesting given how much I love military books and this one was just regular folks. Survivor Malcom meets up with Tessa and her two children, teen Naomi & toddler TJ. Already dealing with grief and loss individually, this alliance proved to be just as harrowing and emotional as the other stories.

Even simple trips to seemingly abandoned stores to stock up on supplies become fraught with dangers. After tragedy strikes the escape from Ohio, finding their way to Texas becomes even more urgent.

Safe. For now. I hope to hear more about these characters as the series goes on.

Narration:
Andrew B Wehrlen continues to be a great fit for the series. His voices and especially the emotions are wonderful.

Eight years after the Collapse of the global economy and the fall of modern society, simply surviving each day is a gift. Starvation, disease, and death lurk in the shadows, waiting for their opportunity to claim another life. The great nations have fallen, replaced by local communities that will do anything to keep their people alive.

Jace Thompson finds himself fleeing from the insidious forces of the Collective. He makes it across the Potomac River into what was once the American state of Maryland. His fortune begins to turn when he stumbles across a house, unmolested by scavengers, which holds a gruesome mystery that will forever alter his life. In the basement, Jace finds three desiccated bodies near a solar-powered laptop. The laptop contains instructions on how to find a secret bunker that promises enough food to last for decades.

It’s an opportunity that Jace can’t pass up, but the discovery threatens to lead to him toward his death. Will he survive the journey, or will he end up as just another discarded body along the roadside?

Another great review for the Five Roads series - this time it’s Joseph Hansen’s turn! For Which We Stand is FREE on , $2.99 on or $13.95 in paperback.

Joseph Hensen takes the helm this time for another great addition to the Five Roads to Texas series. This time following Ian and his small band of mercenaries as they make their way to find answers. Along the way they pick up unlikely allies.

I love the Ian acknowledges and embraces that the world is different now – that while he may be a leader and feels responsibility to those in his groups, he does not turn into a dictator. Giving them all free will and the choice to stay or go with him. His relationship with the younger members of the group is particularly endearing.

Again, loved characters are lost and it’s always so hard, but it makes these stories so real at the same time.

This absolutely ends on a cliffhanger as Ian’s “team” uncovers more of the plot that led to the outbreak.

Narration:
Andrew B Wehrlen does another great job here. I especially appreciate his ability to bring levity to the banter and anticipation to the fighting scenes.

Great review of Five Roads to Texas! If you’ve not read it, be sure to grab a copy and get ready for the ride of your life!!

This is an amazing collaboration between Phalanx Press authors W.J. Lundy, Brian Parker, Rich Baker, Joseph Hansen, and Allen Gamboa.

The authors take the helm of characters of single, familial, teams, and found allies as they learn of a quickly spreading threat. It’s unknown whether a virus or parasite is causing humans to rapidly decline into mindless beings attacking the uninfected.

I love the fact that they share the perspectives of a broad variety of people: gender, age, background, personality, occupations, skills, social status, etc. Don’t get too attached, because even the most beloved characters aren’t safe.

It offers a rich and unexpected storyline. The pacing is fantastic. At 12 hours, I couldn’t listen all in one day – but I squeezed listening in to every spare moment I had. This ends on a cliffhanger in that the time covered is really only the first month of the outbreak. The authors & their characters diverge into a series of individual books that I’m looking forward to. Starting with book 2: Brian Parker’s After the Roads.

Narration:
I really enjoyed Andrew B. Wehrlen’s narration. As mentioned above he has a huge & diverse cast of characters to work with as well as a wide range of emotions and situations. He delivers a wonderful and consistent performance. I’m thrilled he’s narrating the entire series.

Today is day 6 of sharing about veteran authors. Of course the final three are going to be my Phalanx buddies. Allen Gamboa is an Air Force vet. We may give the Air Force folks a lot of grief, but there's nobody we'd rather have on our side in a fight, that's for sure.
After his time in the Air Force, Allen went on to serve an entire career as a prison guard in California, witnessing firsthand what some of America's worst criminals can do. I think that experience has translated well into his writing, don't you?

Here's where you can find his books on Amazon:

11/11/2021

Happy Veterans Day! Today I want to highlight Navy veteran J.L. Bourne. He's one of the heavy hitters in the zombie and action thriller literary world. Funny story, before I ever even thought about writing, I was sitting on the Metro in DC and finished reading Day By Day Armageddon. I turned to the back and saw that JL was an active duty pilot. I decided right then that if he could find the time to write, then so could I. So, thank you, Mr. Bourne!

His books can be found on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/J-L-Bourne/e/B002BLQ6G8

11/11/2021

Let's do a Twofer Tuesday with supporting our veteran brothers and sisters! The second veteran I want to highlight is the Voice of Phalanx Press, Andrew Wehrlen SAG AFTRA Voice Actor. He's a Marine Corp vet and a current member of one of the East Coast's policing agencies. Andrew has narrated so many novels that it's just mind-blowing, including 11 of mine!

Here's where you can find all 161 of his titles on Audible: https://www.audible.com/search?searchNarrator=Andrew+B.+Wehrlen&ref=a_search_c3_lNarrator_1_1_1&pf_rd_p=83218cca-c308-412f-bfcf-90198b687a2f&pf_rd_r=G9NT25AW5X2VS1KWBJJA

11/11/2021

It's the day before Veterans Day and of course I'm going to highlight my buddy, W.J. Lundy. He did a stint in the US Army before switching over to the US Navy and making a career on the blue side. He's one of my OG friends in the writing community, a stand-up guy, and a true American Patriot...oh, and he spins a pretty damn good tale too. If you like gritty, realistic military action with witty dialogue, then every one of Lundy's books should be on your shelf or in your ereader.

We’ve got Reciprocity, Brian Parker’s final storyline in the Five Roads to Texas series at the plate, which released today, and W.J. Lundy’s The Occupation, a new thriller series, on deck, releasing Feb 28th!

Here’s what we know about Reciprocity:

America, as we know it, is gone.

The survivors are being hunted. Foreign troops search daily for Sidney Bannister and her new family, systematically eliminating their means of survival. She’s gone on the offensive, but will her initiative bring further pain and suffering to the family?

Lieutenant Jake Murphy’s mission to Washington, DC hit a major snag when they discovered that the nation’s capital was completely overrun and inaccessible. Will New York City hold the answers they seek or was their trip across country all in vain?

The remnants of the US Army, trapped at Fort Bliss, are desperate for answers as unknown forces intercept their communications, further isolating them from the fragmented government. Nearly a year after the rise of the infected, a road-weary traveler finally makes it back to the States with information that will change everything. Just how far is America’s military willing to go for revenge?

Follow the action as the Sidney’s Way storyline from the Five Roads to Texas series draws to an end.
