DEER ALERT
We have a report of a deer VS vehicle on Highway 49 just outside Springfield about one mile past Hwy 76. The driver was injured. Watch for first responders un route and in the roadway and expect delays until the scene is cleared.

Robertson County is a rural area, so always be cautious of deer crossing the roads, especially at night. Use your high beams when possible to spot deer earlier, but dim them for oncoming traffic.
If a deer crosses your path, brake firmly and stay in your lane to avoid a more serious accident.

UPDATE: Fire Chief Tommy Jackson with the Cross Plains Fire Department indicates that the road is clear and open but the Sheriff will be on the scene while the THP investigates so please drive with caution through the area.

Tech Saves Lives… and Finds Phones!

If you’ve dropped your phone lately, you might want to double-check—it could be dialing 911 without you knowing! 🚓🚑🔥

In just the past few days, we’ve seen several calls where crash detection technology on smartphones was triggered after the phone was dropped. Emergency responders—including police, fire, and EMS—rushed to the scene, only to find… no crash, just a lost phone!

Most of the time the phone is left on a vehicles roof and falls off in the road. The good news? In most cases, the phones were successfully returned to their owners, thanks to our diligent first responders. 🙌

This amazing technology isn’t without its quirks, but it has also saved lives—like in a recent case where it helped locate a young lady in a serious accident on the interstate. Link in comments..

So, if you’re out and about, especially riding four-wheelers, double-check your phone settings and be mindful of where your phone ends up. And remember—don’t disable this feature unless you fully understand the risks. It could save your life!

A big shoutout to our local first responders who always show up, no matter the circumstances. Powered by: Springfield Carpet One “We’re ready to floor you!”
