Confusing “comfortability” with “stagnancy”
Go to school. Get a degree. Get a job. Move up in your linear career. Spend 2 days a week “off.” Go back to work.
Over and over and over for the rest of your life until you retire or die.
😅
One thing we face when we leave the athlete environment and integrate into typical societal norms is this:
• We are faced with the widespread belief that once someone achieves a certain level of comfort or stability, they should remain in that state indefinitely.
It’s already difficult to redefine who you are when you throw out your athlete identity.
But it becomes especially confusing when the community you find yourself in doesn’t have the same growth-mindset as you.
So, no matter how far removed you are from sports, if you are still struggling to enjoy yourself in the typical 9-5, “status quo” life... nothing is wrong with you.
I don’t know about you, but “stagnancy” and “comfort” do not go hand in hand for me.
What about you?
