Having a family member who has PMDD we, personally, know how it affects not only the person who has it but their family, friends, work life and relationships. Her life has been hugely affected by (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) she didn't get the correct diagnosis for 35 years, because of a huge lack of education and training for Drs, gynaecologists and psychiatrists, then we had to fight the NHS for her to get the right treatment!

PMDD isn't just !

Many women are dismissed, misdiagnosed and given inappropriate medication and treatment, which can cause long-term health issues

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder is a hormone- based mood disorder that affects around 1 in 20 women and AFAB people. Symptoms normally occur during the 1st-2nd week before your period and then stop when you start to bleed.

The International Association for Premenstrual Disorders is a fantastic organisation, led by the brilliant Laura Murphy who shared her experience in the article, that supports, educates, provides resources and funds research into premenstrual disorders.

If this is you, your mum, partner, sister, daughter, friend, carer or colleague, please don't suffer in silence or assume it's "just" PMS, help, advice, effective treatment and support is available.

Don't let your GP dismiss you, ask to be referred to a hormone expert

Frustrating! Thanks for sharing Posted • The fda requires 6 month safety data for a man’s testosterone product.
They want five year safety data for the same product, dosed for females.
Which is cost prohibitive for the companies and would make the product so so expensive if it ever got to market to pay for the studies.
Tell me how this is nothing more than bias and “protecting the women” by never letting them get the help they need. And therefore hurting them instead.
Make it make sense.

Posted • This month we will be talking about Vulvodynia.

Vulvodynia is a chronic pain condition that affects the v***a. It is often misdiagnosed and can be very difficult for those who have vulvodynia, causing physical and emotional distress for those who experience it. Vulvodynia is a relatively common condition, affecting approximately 16% of women at some point in their lives.

Couldn’t agree more. A good reminder. We need better s*x education for all. Thanks for sharing Posted • The state of s*x education is poor for American adolescents—but you probably already knew that. What you may not realize is that the state of s*x ed for adults entering fields like medicine, psychology, and nursing isn’t all that great, either.

There’s no universal standard for how s*xuality should be taught in most healthcare training programs, nor is there even a requirement that it be taught at all! The s*x ed deficit in medical education hurts all of us. We can do better than this!

If you have negative feelings about ma********on, it's best to speak with a therapist or someone you trust.

Seriously??!!Read caption below on how to help. ⬇️Posted • .divine Dear friends, we really need your help as our co-founder Samantha (usually samtalkss*x on here) has been banned from Instagram on the bizarre charges of “posting se7ually suggestive photos”, “soliciting se9ual services” and/or “using se8ually explicit language”.

We were taken absolutely by surprise, as Samantha has never had a single Post, Story or Reel taken down for any reason.

As you will know, Samantha spends a huge amount of time helping people with their segsual health, helping those in menopause, with gynae issues and going through cancer treatment. She gives so much of her time freely from IG chats to attending parliament and has been a vocal part of the and movements. Every day her account is down women’s segsual health is eroded that little bit more.

So don’t just like this post, complain to IG (Go to Settings -> Help -> Report a Problem).

If you can amplify this post by putting it on your Story that would be really helpful. The louder we shout the quicker this bizarre situation is resolved.

Thanks you for your help.

Samantha and Paul from Jo Divine

Great reminder! Thanks Posted • can bring on intense waves of that may leave you feeling helpless. STOP is a powerful tool you can employ during difficult moments.

By choosing to be intentional rather than reactionary, and allowing yourself a moment to register how you're feeling, you can effectively calm your body, relax your mind, and move through the difficult transition with more ease.

Why screen for osteoporosis? Read caption ⬇️. Thank you for the explanation.

Posted •

So why do we have to screen for osteoporosis?

Because it is SILENT!

Again, like heart disease it is silent.

FACTS:
Bone loss begins during the menopausal transition
Accelerates ↑1y before and 2y after final menstrual period (FMP) = 50% of lifetime bone density loss!!!
Critical period for interventions to optimise reductions in the loss of bone strength.
Most commonly in postmenopausal women
3.5 million people in UK with osteoporosis, 80% women
1/2 women > 50 years will have a fragility fracture
Osteoporosis will put an increasing burden on the NHS – currently £4.5bn a year and projected to rise steeply
1 year after a hip fracture:
- 4 times more likely to die
- 80% dependent

So makes sense to screen right?

But how do I know if my bones are thin if I can't feel it? find out tomorrow!

Prolapse, the more you know… Check out S2 Ep5, a woman’s personal story. Thanks for sharing. Posted • This past week I’ve had two separate conversations with women on this subject so wanted to share my story…
-
I was 32 and I remember saying to Mr J “There’s something down there that shouldn’t be 🥺”
-
Here’s when there’s a definite advantage having a medic for a husband…
-
He examined me and told me I had a ‘grade 3 rectocele’ 🤷🏻‍♀️
-
I had no idea what that even was, and why would I as it’s another subject that we’ve been told not to talk about 🤐
-
I was devastated, I’d just given birth to our second child (we have three) and I had no clue that prolapse was even a thing - basically my bowel was falling out of my va**na
-
I’ve since had surgery, luckily my repair was successful and as you’ll see from my posts it hasn’t stopped me from lifting those weights
and I continue to look after my pelvic health
-
Are you living with a prolapse? Have you had surgery? What’s your experience? Please share and open this conversation and share with anyone that you think this will help

This is exciting news. 🤞🏼Thanks for sharing Posted • Makes so much sense. We have oestrogen in a patch or gel.

So we need to have choice regarding how testosterone is delivered.

Currently it is only delivered in a gel licensed for men so women have to squeeze a pea sized amount out and so fiddly!

Keeping my eyes open for results on these patches!

22/03/2023

Thank you for educating us. Posted • What are cl****al adhesions?

Cl****al adhesions describe attachment of the cl****al hood (prepuce) to the g***s cl****is, so the ridge of the g***s cl****is (the corona) cannot be seen and the cl****al hood cannot be fully pulled back (retracted). This can be completely asymptomatic (no symptoms) or can be associated with discomfort, pain, a pulling sensation with arousal, or even delayed or decreased or**sm.

What are some causes of this? It is likely related to inflammation. Here are some specific causes that I see in my patients:

Lichen sclerosus/Lichen planus- autoimmune inflammatory skin conditions of the v***a that can lead to covering of the cl****is (cl****al phimosis).

Vulvar atrophy- lack of estrogen and testosterone can lead to “shrinkage” of the cl****is and the g***s being dry, which can lead to sticking of the cl****al hood to the g***s cl****is.

Vulvar candidiasis- inflammation related to yeast and discharge buildup can lead to sticking of the cl****al hood to the g***s cl****is

Inflammatory vaginitis- desquamative inflammatory vaginitis or atrophic vaginitis can lead to inflammation on the v***a as well

Sm**ma production- some people just produce more white discharge between the l***a and around the cl****is, which can increase inflammation and lead to adhesions.

We see an association between v***ar pain conditions and cl****al adhesions, maybe because someone is avoiding the cl****is due to pain.

There have been a few studies evaluating cl****al adhesions and keratin pearls (when dead skin cell ball up under the adhesions and lead to a “grain of sand” sensation on the cl****is) and more are to come as we recognize this important exam finding and potential cause of cl****al pain.

Loved talking to ! Listen to what she has to say in S2 Ep 4 New Pathways to Pleasure. Link ⬇️
• Desire… you know, those heart pounding, tingling, firey, I Want You Now sensations you felt in your partner’s presence when you first met? Yea, but where did it go?

You might feel that you’ve lost it or that there is something wrong with you when you get that tap on the shoulder from an eager partner and you’re just not in the mood.

Everything you’re feeling makes sense especially if you are busy multitasking the demands of home, work, family, or stressed, tired and overhwhelmed.

Understanding how desire works can put your mind at ease and allow you to cultivate a practice of kindling desire with micromoments of pleasure to light that spark again.

Science has shown us that women typically require arousal before they feel desire. So seeking out experiences to stoke that desire can get you in the mood. It all begins with getting to know yourself and the things that light you up.

🔥Bring mindful attention to the things that bring you pleasure, and consciously cultivate more of it… it can be wearing a bright red lipstick, sipping that first cup of coffee, moving your body or dancing to your favorite song.

🔥Explore through self touch areas of your body that are more sensitive to pleasure such as the neck, inner arms, breasts, abdomen, pelvis, inner thighs and feet.

🔥Create a s*xy playlist and listen to it while you shower, get dressed or have dinner.

🔥Listen to or read erotica together– check out for some juicy and titillating soundbites.

🔥Activate your voice and build anticipation by sending s*xy voice notes to your partner.

🔥Create novelty by being the one to initiate s*xy time playing with time of day or location to get things going.

🔥Use your imagination, be curious and have fun!
