The Jim Higgs Collection - Legend
The Jim Higgs Collection - Oshawa
Back in the summer of 2022, I was fortunate enough to be able to make the trip up to see my friends in Ontario. While staying with our good friend, Duffy McCarthy, in Muskoka, Jim Higgs, who played for and coached the Syracuse Stingers, the 1975 NLL champions in Quebec, and for Jim Bishop in Oshawa, sent along his collections for me to look at. After spending a couple of days going through everything, I was able to take some snapshots of his collection. I want to thank Jim for the following. The first of three parts.......these are the shots from his days playing in the NLL.

Good day to one and all. Letting everyone know that the site is currently down for a site redesign. Hope to have it finished by Christmas. Been having issues with plugins that were used prior, causing and creating more downtime than usual. Bear with us while we make this transition.

In 1931, box lacrosse was invented out of whole cloth in Ontario
While it spread like wildfire in the Great White North, it made few inroads in the States
Rochester and some other places close to the border? Sure…but nowhere else
Except…Delaware County, Pennsylvania?
Indeed, it did—by 1939, DelCo had a thriving box lacrosse league, featuring teams like the Chester Comets, Philadelphia Indians, and others
