As a university student, money can be tight and so sometimes I skip meals. Another student in my class is a mom, who is older and has less financial struggle. So she has taken it upon herself to pack an extra lunch when making her kids some, and bringing it for me.
She is one of the nicest people I know, and I am so grateful for her kindness and compassion. Just a wholesome person, and thought she deserved a shout out here!

"I adopted you in old age and I thought you would leave in a few hours... Eventually the hours became days and the days became weeks.
You loved the sun, the car rides and you were happy...
I don't know what you went through, but I would have liked to find you earlier and heal your wounds.
No one deserves to leave alone..."
From a mom who adopts older animals, so that they do not die alone 💕💕

Humanity moment......
I’m at the America’s tire Company on Florida. This man 70 years old, named Phil was there for tire service. A young lady named Alex with a little girl came in for a flat tire repair. Come to find out the tires on her Silverado were all bald and in need of replacement. The girl was stressed because she couldn’t afford the tires. Phil, without skipping a beat said “I’ll buy all 4 tires for her”. The entire store was shocked. Alex said thank you about 100 times. Phil was mister smooth and humble, with a big heart. This man blessed this young lady and simply asked that she Pay it forward.

"Hi I posted a couple days ago about mr fox sleeping in the bed I got him and here he is this evening .
A few of the comments made quite upset me so I want to put this straight
.
I’m not doing this for me
. He has been coming to my garden since I moved in 9 weeks ago and is very tame and when I saw him sleeping under the trees all wet and sad I had the idea for the beds.
He is free to come and go as he wants I’m not trapping him or keeping him as a pet
He often brings his mate
I have no intention of moving for years so he will always have me and my partner
In such a harsh world, all I'm striving to do is offer this sweetie some solace to rest his head upon, along with nourishment.
I hope that clears up some nasty comments about me trying to Make him a pet and how awful I am."

When I became a single mom over 3 years ago I made a promise with myself that I would do anything I could, even if it meant going out of my comfort zone, to give my kids a "normal" life and the same experiences as other kids. We have accomplished a lot. Trips alone, teaching my son how to play catch, killing bugs with minimal screaming, countless memories, and a normal life. But when my kindergartener came home with a paper saying that they were having "dads and doughnuts" my heart kinda sank. I finally sat him down and asked if he wanted to ask his grandpa to go. He just smiled and said 'no. I want you to go. You're my mom and dad.' So this morning I gathered up my best dad outfit, painted on some facial hair, and went to breakfast with my sweet son. I was so embarrassed but I couldn't help but smile when he introduced me to his little friends saying 'this is my mom... she's my dad too so I brought her!' I've tried my best to let them know they are loved but I wonder a lot if I'm actually succeeding at it. When I went to leave he ran after me and hugged me tight around my neck and whispered 'mom... I know that you'll always be there and do anything for me. Thank you. I love you.' He kissed my cheek and ran off. I hope he remembers this day cause I'll never forget it or his sweet words.

"This is me at 21 years old. This is the day I graduated from the Detroit police academy at 4:00pm, went home and took a couple hour nap, woke up at 9:30 that night and reported to my first tour of duty at the 12th Precinct for midnight shift. Look at that smile on my face. I couldn't have been more excited, more proud. Armed with my dad's badge that he wore for 25 years on my chest, one of my mom's sergeant stripe patches in my pocket, my lucky $2.00 bill tucked into
my bulletproof vest, a gun I was barely old enough to purchase bullets for on my hip and enough naive courage for a small army, I headed out the door...my mom snapped this photo on my way.
The next 17 years would bring plenty of shed blood, black eyes, torn ligaments, stab wounds, stitches, funerals, a head injury, permanent and irreparable nerve damage, 5 ruptured discs, some charming PTSD and depression issues and a whole lot of heartache. They brought missed Christmases with my family, my absence from friends' birthday get-togethers, pricey concert tickets that were forfeited at the last minute because of a late call and many sleepless nights.
I've laid in wet grass on the freeway for three hours watching a team of burglars and orchestrating their apprehension, I've dodged gunfire while running down a dark alley in the middle of the night chasing a shooting suspect, I've argued with women who were too scared to leave their abusive husbands until they realized they had to or they would end up dead. I've peeled a dead, burned baby from the front of my uniform shirt, I've felt the pride of putting handcuffs on a serial ra**st and I've cried on the chest of and kissed the cheek of my dead friend, coworker and academy classmate even though it was covered in his own dried blood and didn't even look like him from all the bullet holes. I know what a bullet sounds like when it's whizzing past your ear, a few inches away, I know what the sound of a Mother's shrilling scream is like when she finds out her son has been killed in the middle of the street and I know what it's like to have to tell a wife and mother of 3 that her husband was killed in a car accident while on his way home from work.
Smells, pictures, sounds and sights are burned and engrained into our minds...things we can never forget, no matter how hard we try; things that haunt our sleep at night and our thoughts during the day; things that we volunteered to deal with so that you don't have to. Things I don't want my sister, little cousins or YOU to even have to KNOW about.
I never once went to work thinking, "I'm gonna beat someone tonight."; "Hmmm...I think I'm gonna kill someone tonight." I DID, however, go to work every night, knowing that I was going to do the best I could to keep good people safe, even if that meant that I died doing so.
We ALL need to start being more understanding and compassionate toward one another. Violence doesn't cure violence and hate doesn't cure hate. I've seen and experienced both sides of the spectrum since I left the PD and I get it. I truly do. But this all has to stop.
Are cops perfect? No. Are there bad cops? Yes. But please...understand that the vast majority of police are good, loving, well intentioned family people. They have husbands and wives and children and parents and pets and cousins and mortgages and electric bills and lawns that need cutting, just like you. They have hearts and consciences. They aren't robots, they're not machines and they just want to help keep the wolves away from the sheep. I KNOW there's people who don't deserve to wear the badge but they're SO VERY few and far between. It breaks my heart to see all this hatred and anger flying around. All it's doing is encouraging more of the same.
If you've read this far, thank you for listening. I'm not gonna sit here and tell you that if you hate or don't support one side or the other, to unfriend me and never speak to me again...I hope those are the people who come straight TO me. Because I'll be more than happy to hug you and pray or meditate with you. I'll be more than happy to listen to your concerns and let you vent and empathize with your feelings. But then I'll encourage you to help me find a solution to end all this nonsense because if we're not part of the solution, we're part of the problem. Love to all of you. ALL OF YOU. We're all SO much better than this."

“My dad passed away when I was 16 from cancer. Before he died, he pre paid flowers so I could receive them every year on my birthday. Well, these are my 21st birthday flowers and the last I’ll receive. Miss you so much, Daddy.” 💜 The card reads: ‘Bailey, This is my last love letter to you until we meet again. I do not want you to shed another tear for me my baby girl for I am in a better place. You are and will always be the most precious jewel I was given. It is your 21st birthday and I want you to always respect your momma and stay true to yourself. Be happy and live life to the fullest. I will still be with you through every milestone, just look around and there I will be. I love you Boo Boo and Happy Birthday!!!! Daddy.’

Message of Ray Bradbury
"When I was 19 years old I couldn't go to college because I came from a poor family. We had no money, so I went to the library at least. Three days a week I read every possible book. At the age of 27 I have actually completed almost the entire library instead of university. So I got my education in the library and for free. When a person wants something, they will find a way to achieve it.
I would like to remind you one thing:
Humans should never forget that we have been assigned only a very small place on earth, that we live surrounded by nature that can easily take back everything that has ever given to man.
It costs absolutely nothing in her way to one day blow us all off the face of the earth or flood the waters of the ocean with her single breath, just to remind man once again that he is not as all-powerful as he still foolishly thinks. "

In Chandler, Arizona, Doug is a loyal customer at Arby's restaurant. Actually, he's the most loyal customer they have there. Doug is a 97-year-old World War II veteran, and has long loved the famous roast beef sandwiches on which the chain has built its reputation. Doug comes in every single day to enjoy a meal with his favorite sandwich. He almost always orders a Swiss cheese filled roast beef slider and a Coke with no ice. All the staff members there have memorized that as his “usual.”
After quite a while, one of the employees, Travis Coye, wanted to know more about this elderly man, and why he had such a fascination with the food they serve there. So he asked him why he keeps coming there; why that location? Doug replied, saying: “This is the only place I can get a sandwich or get anything else to eat that doesn’t hurt my stomach.” Actually, it may be closer to the truth that he likes the sandwich so much that he stopped looking for alternatives.
Doug lives in a nearby retirement home, but always makes sure to get his daily meal at Arby's. And he has his own favorite table where he enjoys it. The staff there treats him as much like family as possible and staff members go out of their way to make him comfortable. Says the manager there, Christina Gamage: “He comes in with a walker, as soon as we see him come to the doors, we try [to] grab the doors for him. He’s gone through a lot being a veteran, coming in, being in a retirement home, but he doesn’t have family.”
Doug is such a loyal customer and really good guy that one day the staff pitched in and got him a $200 gift card. He thought at first they were joking, but it was definitely real, and Doug told them: “Thank you. I never know if I’ll be here the next day, but thank you so much for this.” But what might be even more important than that... at least, more meaningful... is that many of the staffers gave Doug their phone numbers in case he needed anything. And they all offered to bring him his favorite meal to the retirement home in case he could not make it there.
Then, after Doug's story made national news, Arby's gave him another gift... free food for the rest of his life. Now he never has to worry about where his next meal is coming from, giving him more time to make more friendships.

In 1992, Kris Kristofferson comforted Sinéad O'Connor when she was booed off the stage at a Bob Dylan anniversary concert.
Sinéad O'Connor, just 25 years old at the time, was introduced on stage by American singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson.
He later wrote this for her. May we all have her courage. May we all tell the truth.
—-
"I'm singing this song for my sister Sinead
Concerning the god awful mess that she made
When she told them her truth just as hard as she could
Her message profoundly was misunderstood
There's humans entrusted with guarding our gold
And humans in charge of the saving of souls
And humans responded all over the world
Condemning that bald headed brave little girl
And maybe she's crazy and maybe she ain't
But so was Picasso and so were the saints
And she's never been partial to shackles or chains
She's too old for breaking and too young to tame
It's askin' for trouble to stick out your neck
In terms of a target a big silhouette
But some candles flicker and some candles fade
And some burn as true as my sister Sinead
And maybe she's crazy and maybe she ain't
But so was Picasso and so were the saints
And she's never been partial to shackles or chains
She's too old for breaking and too young to tame”

Last week our UPS man drove in our neighborhood. Kenzi saw the truck and thought it might be her daddy. I assured her it was not because we live in Walnut Ridge(recently moved). She runs outside and stands in our driveway, as he returns, she is waving at him BIG, he waves back just as big...... as he passes, she turns, looks at me and says, “nope Nan that’s not my daddy, he had hair, my daddy is bald!!”
So today he did make a delivery....I told him the story, we snapped a picture and we had a good chuckle!!!! My wish is for the whole world 🌎 to see through the eyes of a child!!

I was at McDonald's in Poughkeepsie, NY tonight around 10:30 getting the girl some fries and a milkshake when I noticed the guy sitting down next to his bike. I kinda had a feeling he wanted to get food but couldn't, (no car, lobby closed) so I offered to go around the drive-thru for him.
He pulled out a crumpled up coupon for a BOGO Big Mac and was struggling to get all the money together so I offered to buy his meal.
The sad thing is prior to that, we watched car after car pass him right by. And I thought to myself, that must be a terrible experience watching the world go right by you like that and not pay you any attention, like you don't even exist...
It made me realize this world goes by so fast that sometimes we forget the simple and basic good human qualities that we all possess like empathy, humility, compassion and more importantly generosity.
So please if you're going to get anything out of this post. Be kind to others because one day you could be the one sitting on a curb next to your bike, starving and have the world pass you right by as you did to others.

"My daughter was clean for just over a year from using he**in.
She kicked the dragon square in the balls and I didn’t think she was ever gonna look back for it.

She said “Daddy, I don’t want to go back to that stuff ever again”.

I remind her what I told her at the Narcan meeting:
“If you can’t kick the dragon for good I will be the one to zip you up, but I will be with you every step of the way when you need me”.

I don’t know why she didn’t call me like she promised.
It hurts so bad that she didn’t call.

Now before you get all pissy with me for saying that I will zip her up, You have got to understand my daughter’s and my relationship.

It’s a loving relationship that shines.

I would ALWAYS be there to bail her out of whatever she got herself into, but now here I was, a father who was desperate for my daughter NEVER TO USE AGAIN and didn’t know how else to put it.

I thought the Love she had for me would keep her from going back to that drug ever again.

Well, that didn’t happen.
At 5:50 pm I got the call from the Det at Eastlake Police that my daughter was found dead in her bed from an overdose.

I immediately fell to my knees in the snow and began to cry like a baby.

I could not believe that my Tigger had done this.
I tell the Det that I am on my way and got there in record time.

STOP READING HERE cause it’s going to be very descriptive.
Just stop here and know I love her and kept my word to her.
.. but on the other hand I need everyone to understand how very bad this s**t is so you NEVER have to experience what we are right now.

I walked up the stairs to her room and there was Karisten sitting in her bed.

She had hit such an lethal dose that when she went into a hemorrhaging arrest that she sat up from her pillows she was propped on in her bed, had her arms straight out with a slight bend at the elbow, fists clenched, with her thumbs tucked under her fingers grasping so tight at what looked like she was trying to grab life back in her.

She was all blue faced, veins out, had a little blood from her nose and her teeth were so tight together that her mouth wouldn’t open.

I was told I couldn’t touch my daughter in case there was any lethal powder still on her.

I ask for gloves and glove up cause I’ll be damned if I’m not going to help my daughter One last time or hug her and let her know I Love her.

Well, I kept my word and spread the bag out and carefully placed her in it to say goodbye to her so they can find out what it was that she took.
I zipped her up in her body bag and helped them carefully place her on the cot.

I’m not looking for pity or trolling for comments.
I just want ALL of you to know that no matter who you are or what you do or how perfect you think someone is, that this He**in s**t can come into anybody’s life and destroy it.

Do not be blind to this.
AND DO NOT LET THIS DRUG FOOL YOU!!!

Please, please, please, wrap your arms around your loved ones and let them know how much you care and love them, because tomorrow is never guaranteed and I urge you all to share this post.
Maybe, just maybe, it’ll help another family.

Rest easy Karisten Lyn Shermann.
I miss you so much, my heart is broken, and I LOVE YOU so very very much."

14/05/2024

At six years old, little Beverly was put on academic probation after first grade. Her biggest problem was reading. The assigned books were all boring educational stories about polite children. It was thanks to a school librarian's friendly encouragement that the girl finally liked to read.

After college, Beverly began working as a children’s librarian. She still found children's books boring. Dick and Jane weren't at all like lively, curious, funny, angry, unruly real kids.

So Beverly Cleary became an author herself. She wrote Ramona the Pest, Henry Huggins, Ribsy, The Mouse and the Motorcycle --more than 40 books in all. Her books won dozens of awards, sold more than 90 million copies, and are still beloved today.

Not bad for the little girl who didn't like to read.

A Lady asked an old street vendor: "How much do you sell your eggs for?" The old man replied "0.50± an egg, madam.” The Lady responde, “I'll take 6 eggs for $2.00 or I'm leaving.” The old salesman replied, “Buy them at the price you want, Madam. This is a good start for me because I haven't sold a single egg today and I need this to live.”
She bought her eggs at a bargain price and left with the feeling that she had won. She got into her fancy car and went to a fancy restaurant with her friend. She and her friend ordered what they wanted. They ate a little and left a lot of what they had asked for. So they paid the bill, which was $150. The ladies gave $200 and told the fancy restaurant owner to keep the change as a tip.
This story might seem quite normal to the owner of the fancy restaurant, but very unfair to the egg seller. The question it raises is;
Why do we always need to show that we have power when we buy from the needy?
And why are we generous to those who don't even need our generosity?
We once read somewhere that a father used to buy goods from poor people at a high price, even though he didn't need the things. Sometimes he paid more for them. His children were amazed. One day they asked him "why are you doing this dad?" The father replied: "It's charity wrapped in dignity.”
I know that most of you will not share this message, but if you are one of the people who have taken the time to read this far...
Then this message of attempted "humanisation" will have gone one step further in the right direction.

My brother is my hero. He’s in terrible pain with an infection in his stomach. We are waiting for test results to see if his pancreatic cancer has now gone into his stomach. It breaks my heart that he was treated so poorly when the ambulance brought him into the ER last night and forced to lay on the ground for 15 hours before finally giving him a bed. Not how I would treat a retired firefighter/paramedic with 30 years experience of saving lives in his community. His spirit is now broken and my heart aches for him and his wife. Please pray for him. 14/05/2024

Did you know??
"As long as I possessed nothing more than my bed and my books, I was happy. I now own nine chickens and a rooster, and my soul is disturbed. Property has made me heartless.
Every time I bought a chicken I tied it to a tree for two days, to impose my address on it, destroying in its fragile memory the love of its old residence. I fixed my yard fence, in order to keep my birds from evading, and the four and two foot fox invasion. I isolated myself, fortified the border, drew a diabolical line between my neighbor and I. I divided humanity into two categories; me, owner of my chickens, and the others who could take them from me. I defined the crime. The world was filled to me with alleged thieves, and for the first time I cast a hostile look from the other side of the fence.
My rooster was too young. The neighbor's rooster jumped the fence and started courting my hens and bittering my rooster's existence. I stoned the intruder, but they jumped the fence and hiked at the neighbor's house. I claimed the eggs and my neighbor hated me. Since then I saw his face over the fence, his inquisitive and hostile gaze, identical to mine. Their chickens crossed the fence, and devoured the wet corn that consecrated mine. The alien chickens looked like criminals to me. I chased them, and blinded by rage I killed one. The neighbor attributed the attack to a huge importance. He didn't want to accept a compensation. He seriously removed the carcass of his chicken, and instead of eating it, he showed it to his friends, with which the legend of my imperialist brutality began to circulate around the town. I had to strengthen the fence, increase surveillance, raise, in a word, my war budget. The neighbor has a dog that is determined to do everything; I'm thinking of getting a revolver.
Where is my old peace? I'm poisoned by distrust and hatred. The spirit of evil has taken over me.
Once I was a man.
I am now a landlord."

Laura Failner is a SkyWest flight attendant. She witnessed this moment of kindness. The world would be a much better place if everyone is like her.
"I love looking for the good in the world! As I flew up to Washington today, I had this cute little 94-year-old lady get on my plane. She was frail and had a hard time getting back to her seat. There was a bit of confusion about where she was supposed to be seated. In first-class, this wonderful gentleman saw her plight and flagged me down. He said, "can you please get her and put her in my seat, and I will take hers." He walked back with me to get her and take her to first class. She was so touched. The woman gave him a big hug and said, "Never in my 94 years has someone done that for me. Thank you, young man." She had tears of gratitude. It was amazing how his thoughtful act changed the attitude of everyone on the flight. May we all look for the little things we can do to help others around us and show kindness. In this crazy world, let's all try to be the good." đŸ„°đŸ„°đŸ„°

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, 'What does love mean?' The answers they got were broader, deeper, and more profound than anyone could have ever imagined!
'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore... So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.'
Rebecca - age 8
'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.'
Billy - age 4
'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.'
Karl - age 5
'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.'
Chrissy - age 6
'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.'
Terri - age 4
'Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.'
Danny - age 8
'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and just listen.'
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)
'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate.'
Nikka - age 6

And the final one: The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, 'Nothing, I just helped him cry.'

This generation doesn't understand.

Most men in this generation doesn't understand its not about giving her the world, but it's actually about making her feel like she's a priority in yours.

It's about surprising her with a sweet text throughout the day to remind her you're thinking about her.

It's about coming home from work and asking about her day because you genuinely care about the answer.

It's about going to the refrigerator to get yourself a drink, and you get her one without even asking.

It's about driving down a backroad and you pull off to the side to pick her some beautiful wild flowers.

It's about cuddling on the couch in sweatpants and binge watching your favorite show on Netflix together.

It's about taking her to her favorite restaurant unannounced.

It's about slow dancing with her in the rain to a song that was written by George Strait.

It's about calling her randomly and asking how she is doing because you care about her mental health.

It's about laying her favorite dress on the bed with a note that says "put this on and be ready by 7pm".

It's about knowing the smallest details about her, like the way she likes her coffee in the morning, or her favorite smell, or what movies make her cry.

It's about going to a local ice cream parlor on a Saturday afternoon to talk about your life goals together over a couple hot fudge sundaes.

Take my advice and remember...... it doesn't always have to cost much money, it just needs to catch her off guard.
