We decided to make the 3 hour drive from Germany to Belgium so we could visit an extra country while in northwest Europe but wow Brussels absolutely blew us away. There was beauty around every corner and amazing beer/sweets. We are already planning our return trip for the next time we’re in Germany 🇧🇪

had the best time ever this weekend at our q***r girl hangout 🤍🌈🦋☀️👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩

we are always nervous every time we organize in person gatherings - a little scared to meet new people and wondering if anyone will even show up.

but once we arrive and meet everyone it is always the loveliest group. most girls come on their own (very brave of them!) but always leave with new friends, us included 🤍

our favorite part of this app is actually getting off it and meeting our community. the q***r community is just the best ever 🌈

thank you to everyone who has taken a leap to hang out with us in person, our last meetup and our Croatia group trip girls included. we love you all!!!!!

after weeks of stress and doctors appointments and surgeries we finally found out today that Janine’s mom is healthy!!! 🤍🙏🏼

thank you so much to everyone who sent us messages and positive vibes. we’ve been more or less off social media the last few days as we waited for news but we’re so excited to be backkkk

Since we’ve been in Germany, I’ve been showing Gen all of my favorite spots from childhood 🤍

A lot of things have changed since I was a kid but it’s still so fun getting to experience them with her.

Especially since I had such a hard time coming to terms with my sexuality growing up. As a kid, I would have never thought I’d bring a girl home one day. But here I am showing Gen the true German experience…. beautiful weather included 😉⛈️

Insane life update coming up…. this Thursday we are temporarily moving to Germany 🇩🇪

The last week has been so crazy for us. We had plans to spend the next few months in Latin America and were finalizing our trip details when Janine got a call that her mom needs an emergency operation. So we immediately put our plans on hold and booked one way flights to Germany.

We will stay with Janine’s mom for the time being to help her with her recovery. We have no clue how long she will need our help or what our future plans are but we are so grateful that our current lifestyle allows us to show up. A year ago we would not have been in this position and logistics would have been much more difficult.

I always told Janine the only way I would go to Germany in the winter was if it was for the Christmas markets but life doesn’t really work like that. So ya......bis bald Deutschland 🖤❤️💛

The longer our relationship goes and the farther away we get from the honeymoon stage, the more we have come to understand that healthy relationships really do require effort ♥️

Here are 3 things we practice in our relationship to keep it strong:

1) Understand your partner’s needs and communicate about them

When we first started discussing Janine needing to make this trip to Germany, I was hesitant to come along. I didn’t know if me traveling with her would really make a difference and I considered just staying in the US. But after a few conversations it became clear Janine really wanted me with her. Her love languages are acts of service and quality time so it does all makes sense. With a bit of communication and understanding of each other, we were able to make a decision that most benefited both of us. We make sure to constantly learn more about each other and ourselves individually to move forward in a healthy relationship.

2) Be present

We prioritize spending QUALITY time together and being present in the moment. Since we live and travel together, it is easy to get through an entire day and realize we never really shared any moments of connection during it. We combat this by doing little tasks together each day like cooking or going on a walk. And we always stay off our phones while eating or having conversations.

3) Keep your promises

This was a bit of a struggle early on in our relationship, mostly because Americans like to throw out loose plans that they don’t end up following through on. Germans would NEVER - if they say they want to do dinner on Thursday it is on their calendar and set. Now we only say what we mean and we never break promises. We rely on each other without ever needing to question if something will be done or not.

These practices have developed over the last 2 years of our relationship and they’ve made all the difference 🌅

the Super Bowl and the Phoenix Open (a professional golf tournament) are both coming to our city this month and we’ll be at some events for both of them. we haven’t been to any social events since we were in LA in December so this should be interesting 🤣

A love letter to German food 🇩🇪💌

I (Janine) moved to the US when I was 20. Never once have I regretted my decision but I still miss lots of things from Deutschland….many of them being food!!

German foods I miss most:

🍝 Spaghetti Eis - America is really missing out on this treat. Imagine vanilla ice cream in the shape of spghetti strands topped with strawberry syrup

🌭 Bratwurst - in LA you can buy late night hotdogs outside of bars but they don’t even come close to late night bratwurst or döner

🍻 German beer - yes you can get German beer in the US but it’s not going to cost €2

🥘Gulasch - one of my favorite meals my grandma would make, just so good

🥫Maggi - you guys have seen me post about Maggi on our stories and I actually did order it on Amazon to have in the US. But it cost me $30 so still adding it to this list ☠️

🍲 Oma’s Hühnersuppe ♥️ - I don’t have a picture of this but it translates to “my grandma’s soup” and that should say it all

🥩 Zwiebelmett - Gen hates this one but she just doesn’t get it. It’s one of my favorite German sausages you have to eat it with onion

Germans, which food could you absolutely not live without?

Does anyone else not start really making New Year’s resolutions until the beginning of January? 🤔 Over the past week we’ve been getting clear on our goals for the future and already taking action.

Here are a few things we're focusing on in 2023:

- Prioritize our health by drinking less alcohol, moving more, and cutting down on added sugar
- Attend more Pride and WLW events around the US and world
- Travel to Europe to visit and spend time with Janine’s family
- Grow our client base and work together to scale our personal business
- Keep connecting with our social media community 🫶🏼🏳️‍🌈

From these focuses, we have many smaller goals set (with timelines) to help us succeed. Think weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly aims…y’all should see our whiteboards 😶 We love the New Year, fresh start to refocus us.
