Every two years, a group of students chosen distinctly to collaborate, create and represent UA's Alpine Living team works together to create an award-winning travel magazine. The magazine showcases developed journalistic skills, including photography and social media, that 14 prestigious journalism department students have mastered during their time at the University of Alabama. ar the Alps is chosen each time for students to travel over a period of two weeks during the Spring semester. Over 100 pages of glossy editorial content, providing service journalism travel writing to countless readers, is accomplished each edition. For the upcoming edition, the students will explore the UK, all the way from London through Wales, then all the way through Manchester and across England. Students will uncover the vast Welsh culture and delve into some of its hidden but awe-inspiring country-side, including trekking through the national parks and climbing Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. Additionally, students will briefly take on the well-traveled city of London to scout exciting new travel opportunities. After two weeks abroad, production is in full-time mode back in the U.S., and students design unique features that previous magazine have yet to cover.
