From Western Washtenaw Recycling:

Let's talk about recycling tin foil! Whether your tin foil came on a yogurt container or was used to cook your favorite casserole, it's important to know whether or not it can be recycled.

The WWRA accepts clean and dry tin foil and tin foil packaging. To recycle these items, just compact your saved tin foil into a ball (at least 1-2 inches in diameter). This prevents small pieces from falling through the cracks of our recycling process.

The WWRA does NOT accept dirty tin foil, loose tin foil that is too small to enter our recycling facility, or Mixed Material bags that may appear to be tin foil. These include chip bags and microwave dinner containers.

It’s weird when city-girl Sienna gets a cryptic phone call about the untimely deaths of some distant family members in small-town Blissfield, Indiana. Weirder yet is the way they expect her to deliver eulogies for relatives she’s never met. But weirdest of all: Sienna goes there. Maybe she’s hoping for a big inheritance. Maybe she just really needs to get away from her dead-end life in Chicago. But what she never expected was the tumultuous and rewarding relationship that she developed with Millie, the particularly sunny employee of the Blissfield funeral home.

From: Mikey & Me

Good afternoon everyone,

Meet Hunter Lou Kincaid, a Chelsea student and local resident. 😉

Hunter’s mom reached out to me last week about dropping off some kennel supplies after the passing of the family’s senior dog. She also mentioned that Hunter had been saving up her money all year and that she wanted to donate it to Mikey & Me. ❤️

We arranged a day to meet here at the kennels so Hunter could meet a couple of our current residents. During this time, she presented me with an envelope which, in part, read:

“This donation is to honor my dogs Camilla (14) and Olive (15) that went to live in heaven with Micky”. 🐶

The envelope contained $82, the money she had been saving up all year. So I asked her if she wanted to decide how we use the money and she decided that half could be used for purchasing special treats for our current residents and half could be applied to the Mikey & Me Family Assistance Program. 🐶

Thank you Hunter Lou for your caring and kindness, and thank you to her parents for raising such a selfless young lady.

From Mikey & Me:

Good afternoon everyone,

Meet Sonic, one of our newest arrivals at the Mikey & Me Kennels in Chelsea.

Sonic is believed to be a Lab/Rottweiler mix, he's just two years old, he weighs 63 pounds, and he has a nicely blended black/brown coat. Sonic is a sweet boy, he loves engaging with people and seems to be good with other dogs. Sonic is beginning to discover more about the great outdoors and is enjoying his freedom after previously being crated much of the time.

Sonic has been neutered, he is up to date on vaccinations, he tested negative for Heart worm disease, and he’s being given monthly heart worm prevention as well as monthly flea/tick meds.

Sonic is experiencing some pain in his rear leg muscles after being crated for extended periods of time. We are helping him regain his leg strength by taking him on short, frequent walks and by engaging with him frequently throughout the day. Sonic is doing his best to learn about having boundaries with people and the Mikey & Me Volunteer Team is completely committed to helping him learn. ❤️

If you would like to meet Sonic, please submit an adoption application at happydaysdogandcatrescue.org.

From Mikey & Me:

Hi everyone,

Meet Willie, our newest arrival at the Mikey & Me Kennels in Chelsea.

Willie is a very friendly Lab mix, he’s 1-2 years old, he weighs only 33 pounds and he has the cutest “one up, one down” set of ears.😉 His coat is a nice reddish color and he feels like a cotton ball. Willie loves engaging with humans, he seems fine with other dogs, and he can be a silly boy at times.

Willie was neutered on 11/11/24 and he’s had most of his vaccinations. I have scheduled a Vet appt. for Willie on January 13th at which time he will be tested for Heart Worm disease, he will be microchipped, and he will receive any additional vaccinations and booster that he needs. Willie will be placed on monthly heart worm prevention as well as flea/tick meds, year round.

If you would like to meet this silly boy, please submit an adoption application under his name at happydaysdogandcatrescue.org.

Plymouth-Canton Ballet Company’s Prop Trailer Stolen, Community Support Needed to Save 40th Anniversary Nutcracker Performance
Tragedy struck the Plymouth-Canton Ballet Company early this morning when their storage trailer, containing vital props for their upcoming performance of The Nutcracker, was stolen from 8100 Ronda Drive, Canton, at approximately 3:30 AM.
The black, enclosed 24-foot trailer, with extra-tall 8-foot walls (license plate E559952, VIN: 54GVC24T7N7053627), housed all the larger props integral to the beloved holiday production. Witnesses have reported a white two-door pickup truck and a small silver sedan involved in the theft.
With just three weeks until curtain call, the company is racing against the clock to replace the stolen items. This year’s performance is particularly special as it marks the 40th anniversary of the production, featuring 20 local dance studios and a cast of over 80 dedicated students who have been tirelessly preparing for months.
“Losing these props is devastating, but we’re determined to make this year’s performance our best yet,” said June Smith, Artistic Director of the Plymouth-Canton Ballet Company. “This community has supported us for 40 years, and we’re confident that, together, we can overcome this challenge.”
The ballet company has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for repurchasing the necessary props and ensuring that this treasured holiday tradition continues uninterrupted. Community members are encouraged to donate at the following link:

The organization is also asking the public to be on the lookout for the stolen trailer and props. Anyone who spots the trailer or its contents is urged to contact local law enforcement immediately.
Despite this setback, the Plymouth-Canton Ballet Company remains committed to bringing the magic of The Nutcracker to life. With the community’s support, they are confident the show will go on, making this milestone anniversary one to remember.
