Joyeux NoeL - 2017 Bl. Kuriakose Elias Chavara Church –

A Brief Bl. Kuriakose Elias Church, Ejipura had the humblest of beginnings in the year 1989 with only 20 families.

The infrastructure of the church was nothing more than a hut but the urge to grow and expand spiritually was nothing less than a miracle in the making. This same urge lead to the expansion of the church in two different time frames – firstly in the year 1996 and then again in the year 2010. Such was the determination and vision of the parishioners that today, Bl. Kuriakose Elias Church, Ejipura is

not just a church but also an educational institution as well, having close to 400 students under its tutelage. The church hosts more than 200 families who come together for spiritual as well as for welfare of the community around it. Chavara Youth and Joyeux Noel
A vibrant and probably the most energetic wing of the church and has enjoyed a very strong presence since its inception. This is an association of youngsters who are motivated and brimming with energy. Joyeux Noel has been the brainchild of Bl. Chavara Youth. Joyeux Noel is an open carol singing competition which has strengthened its reputation for ethics, competitiveness and most importantly - quality over the years. The year 2014 is very special for the Bl. Chavara Youth as well as the church as it is in the year 2014 that our patron – Bl. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a true visionary is going to be canonized or in lay man terms – is going to be made a saint. Commemorating this event, this year’s Joyeux Noel would be done in a much larger scale that it would set a benchmark for other carol singing competition in the upcoming years.
