Balsall Common The community website providing news and information to residents and visitors of Balsall Common. www.balsallcom.com http://twitter.com/balsallcom It's rude!

We're dedicated to sharing news, views, discussion and friendship with the residents of Balsall Common, Berkswell and outlying areas. Our aim is to create a little community spirit in this Bookface space. So please follow this page and join its group! Note to business owners:

Whilst BALSALLCOM.COM aims to promote COMmunity and COMmerce, we ask business owners not to post business links and advert

s in our Facebook discussion space. We provide a number of free options for promoting local businesses, but are not permitted to allow 3rd party ads within the discussion space on Facebook, so please refrain from posting them. Offenders will be kicked out as this threatens our existence as a community service and reduces the group posts visibility in your feeds. See Facebook's 'pages' rules here: https://www.facebook.com/page_guidelines.php

Anyone wishing to post Ads on Facebook should use the Facebook Ads service. Whilst this costs money, it allows you to target your ads more effectively and is significantly more effective than annoying people by posting ads in the space reserved for conversation. Social media means being social, so don't just join our page simply to talk about your business. If that's your plan you are not welcome here. As a business owner you are welcome to contribute in the capacity of your business as part of an ongoing discussion - for example offering assistance or providing expert advice. Note: we provide FREE business listings and business features over at our main website at BalsallCom.Com

Request your FREE listings or ask us how to run a feature by emailing your details to [email protected] - if for any reason nothing seems to happen, then please contact us again. The reason for this is that BalsallCom.Com is a spare-time project run by a small gaggle of volunteers who just like you, experience the everyday distractions and interruptions of family, work and other voluntary commitments. We are human beings (most of us) and we have been known to miss things and do mistakes and stuff.

Fantastic work from Balsall Common Lions Club

Tonight is our Annual Presentation Evening. A chance to celebrate all of the good work and fundraising over the last 12 months. We've started with a look at Lions Clubs and their work all around the world.

As a club and with the support of the community we have carried out 4,400 hours of community service serving thousands of local people.

This includes foodbanks (2500 carrier bags of food), vaccination clinics (supported over 130 clinics; approx 35,000 vaccinations), Santa's sleigh, the fireworks display, the Beerfest and Bugle deliveries.

Plus we've raised £30,000.

This is all despite covid and various restrictions.

Our membership has grown this year, but we're always looking for new members to help us to continue this work, get in touch to find out more about joining us.

Fantastic work everyone

Just a quick “Thank You” to every who has supported Santa on his rounds over the past couple of weeks.

Thanks to your donations we were able to support the Solihull Young Carers Christmas party, giving a gift to every child (and more) that came along to the party … just take a look at the smiles on their faces!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas from Balsall Common Lions ... and Santa, of course!

Our page aims to allow people to share local news and success stories, discuss local happenings and make friends with other members of the community. All we ask is that people play nicely. We will not tolerate anyone trading insults or criticising one another for things like spelling and grammar. If you work for the grammar police, please sonsider yourself off-duty whilst spending time with us. We can still help you in other ways. For example, we do provide FREE business listings and business features over at our main website at BalsallCom.Com - we will also run articles about your business if you have an interesting story to tell.
