NUPE ATTIRE
Every tribe has its mode of communication, as well as their mode of dressing. If you see a man with stick in his hand, with a mini top and trouser, and wearing a hat, you'll easily identify him as a "Fulani man". Aside that, people are also identify by their tribal mark. Some tribal mark(s) give full identification, which enhance people to know even the state you came from. For instance, (Nupe mark, Oyo mark, Katsina mark, Ogbomoso mark) respectively.
Nupe language is one of the famous languages in the Northern part of Nigeria, with her capital in Bida. They however resides in Niger state, Kwara state, and Kogi state respectively.
When you see a woman dressed in Egokpara, Nnadzwa ebwa, Kpasa and Gbadu, what comes to your mind?
Me: "This is a Nupe woman". Because it is a unique mode/pattern of dressing, of a typical Nupe woman, and it brings out the beauty in them.
The female class of a typical Nupe woman is easily identified by the following wears:
1. Egokpara
2. Nnadzwa ebwa
3. Ede-kpasa
4. Gbadu
5. Kpara egogi
√ EDE-KPASA
Ede-kpasa which is commonly called "Kpasa" by the people, has been in existence right before the coming of "Tsoede". In a nutshell, it has been in existence over centuries.
Kpasa is a weaved local material with various designs, regarding its name. Kpasa is produced with the aid of a wooden loom machine, made of tree branches or woods with various components such as:
1. Gbogboro
2. Habishii
3. Ekpa
4. Esa'a
5. Ninfi
Kpasa is of two different brand. One is made of local thread called"Manzari", while the other one is made of foreign thread. Below are various names of Kpasa made of local thread:
1. Giworasa
2. Luwaya
NB: The above mentioned Kpasa are made of local thread called "Manzari". They are the real Kpasa, mainly owned by rich women of those days.
Furthermore, below are the Kpasa made of foreign thread "Lulu-Nasara". They are:
1. Gugulu
2. Ashawu
3. Ekwa yeko
4. Yarangi
5. Kurutu
6. Fulani
7. Kabido
